Good evening everyone, It's wonderful to have a place to come to when you're stuck.
I repaired my drivers side heated seat 15 years ago a failure caused by broken element wire in the crease. I think roughly two winters later it stopped working again and I thought it was because I had been kneeing on the seat to grab bits and pieces.
Anyway, it's freezing in London and having sorted my power stage I very much like a warm derrier.
My question (finally) is the element broke near to my original repair (see image) and I am now a 0.5cm short. Can I use any wire to make up the shortfall? or do I need something more specific?
The burn was from before my repair. I have sinced used a small off cut to cover my original repair which was not burned.
Kind regards
Andre

I guess any wire of approximately the same diameter/resistance would work.
Keep your eyes open for a heater mat oi
ut of a parts car or wreck. This might be the best solution because you don't add resistance through soldering.
They are still available new, at least at Skandix.

Since we are a Royal Navy family deployed overseas protecting the Colonies I can send you a spare heater if you want.
What model and year do you have?

Dear Abscate, To be honest, that's the nicest offer I've had all year and I mean since 2021...thank you so much it's very generous and very appreciated!!!! I would very much like to hold you to that offer if my repair today goes belly up.
I patched in a similar size wire as Clemens suggested (thanks Clemens) and I have continuity and no resistance. I understand zip ties are easier but I just want things back to original so spent the better half this afternoon re attaching the hog ties...why? It makes me feel better.
Sadly, my back is now in spasm so I'll refit the seat tomorrow Sunday.
Thank you Clemens and Abscate for both your time and help.
Kind Regards
Andre
p.s Where does this go???? I found it on the floor under the seat.....
