98-00 AWD Fuel Pump/Sending Unit Assembly.

Looking for one that's not working, not holding pressure, or was replaced because of a check valve problem. This is just for me to take apart and explore, so not really wanting to spend a fortune.

Thanks for the offer. I know these are getting hard to find.

I was able to pull one from the local junkyard. I've seen two or three other AWD Volvos listed in junkyards in the past, but they were somewhat farther from me. It would've been a half day trip just to pull the pumps. Not worth it.

Would have been great if I got one that is known to have failed. Anyway, I'm going to take this one I just got apart. Obviously, being from the junkyard, I don't know the history of the pump. This pump might be in good working order.

My hypothesis is that the o-rings and rubber parts in the sending unit are, more likely, what causes the leak and fuel pressure drop rather than the internal check valve.

I’m not sure there is a check valve. I didn’t see one taking this apart

The check valve is integrated in the outlet nipple as shown in the example picture. I was able to confirm this by blowing into the nipple and couldn't blow air into it. When I sucked air through the nipple, it would flow.

What I'm thinking is that a fuel system that doesn't hold pressure (after eliminating the injectors, fuel line leaks, fpr, etc) doesn't necessarily mean a bad fuel pump check valve, Most likely it'll be the o-rings, and rubber parts in the sending unit.

Hello,
Did you go further in your investigations?
I took apart my fuel sender after seeing Rob DIY video about failing o ring but I did not see any trouble, as far as I can say.
My issue is an immediate loss of fuel pressure after turning off the engine.
