Finally got a minute to review the diagrams. There are only 4 wires to worry about here: Seat Power 12 VDC (+) is Green/Red protected by an auto reset thermal circuit breaker in position 11C/39 - Amps Unknown... ( Anybody have the cover off their fusebox that can have a look? ) Ground is the black w...

Re: 98 v70 lntermittent lack of power/downshifting
The 1998s have a Kickdown switch on the Throttle cable and in mounted in the firewall. Sometimes the switch mount splits and separates from the firewall. If this is your case replace the Throttle cable/ Kickdown switch and adjust the cable. If this is not the case, check the Electrical Connector, Wi...

Re: 98 S70 Strange Transmission issues
There still hope for that transmission. P0748 does not translate to a 1998 S70. I think you OBD scanner has poor translations. Not uncommon for generic scanners. I suggest you get a ELM327 interface version 1.4 or higher (or a good quality clone) and scan it with 850 OBD-II . P0748 is a generic code...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Has everyone heard the one about the Devil and the Engineer? Which one? This is the one that cracks me up. An engineer died and reported to the pearly gates. An newly annointed angel, filling in for St. Peter, checked his dossier and grimly said, "Ah, you're an engineer; you're in the wrong pl...

Re: Ideas for parts cars and project
The 1998 electronics will have to be modified to drive the VVT on the 1999 turbo exhaust. That could get to be a big project.
The ECC controller is 1999 special so that wou;d have to be sorted too.

Re: AC Lines Running Hot 98 V70
Those FLIR devices are averaging a 15-30 cm spot depending on how close you are to the engine. Be careful what you are actually measuring as there are lots of hot things around Temperature is not a good surrogate measurement for AC performance, you can measure high pressure side right from obd and l...

Re: OEM Hitch Install Question
Heat is probably our only chance then and lots of it. Maybe worth taking to a shop to see if they can try if they have gas welding gear.

Re: 1998 V70 NA M56 Crank No-start - Abscate calling in the Calvary!
Here’s a video of my sparks. Just watch this video at low speed. Firing order is wrong, 1-4-3-2-5. Must be 1-2-4-5-3. I will double check the spark plug wires. Again The video could be aliasing since the shutter speed and frame rate is comparable to DUT , for you electrical engineers out there

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
May have beat yanga to one of his list, got the winter tires ordered for the 'R'. As I use it so little I am going to try narrower tires to reduce the cost of tires that will rot out before they will ever wear out. The current tires are about 9-10 years old, still not particularly worn, or rotted bu...
