Re: 850 steering rack teardown and rebuild
So, I printed up this little taper tool to install those seals, with minimal stretching. https://turbochuckcom.ipage.com/webimages/projects/97%20Volvo%20854T5/2024/Steering/Rack%20Rebuild/rackteardown_5.jpg When I get the extra seals, I'll give this a go. What I'll do is wrap some electrical tape ar...

Re: Front LH axle difference - Turbo v's NA? Help needed
The turbo has a larger outer CV than the NA axle, both sides. Some pics here for driver's side: viewtopic.php?t=78777

Re: 99 S70 GLT Engine B5254T
Hi Caesium, can you please explain what a sweep test is and how its performed? Yes; it’s a test of the electronic throttle body module (ETM). It “sweeps” the butterfly valve inside the throttle body all the way open to all the way closed to see if it can move as it is suppposed to. Some of the “chu...

Re: Valve spring washer
I have a cylinder head or two upstate that I could get one from if you get stuck. There are probably only two parts used on the whole P80 product line here, 1992-2000, with a part break in early 1999 model year when valves went from 7mm to 6mm diameter. You want this one from Skandix for a pre-1999 ...

Bad sump seals? Nope, oil SLUDGE!
I had all the tell tale signs that my sump seals were gone. Pretty loud ticking at idle. And it would go away with sustained rpm’s like highway driving which is mostly what I do. The noise got Especially worse after replacing an 80% clogged ORIGINAL PCV. I think the crankcase pressure was actually h...

Re: Oil consumption
Mine has gone up too over the last year, too. I've got an original engine with about 120K miles on it. RobertDIY told me that it was likely valve stem seals.... or at least that's what I think he was telling me. Any chance yours would be bad after 30K miles? Who did the head work? I run 5w40 but I c...

Re: Oil consumption
Running a 0 weight oil on these engines is not a good idea. I appreciate 5W-40 which I use as specified for my 2000 V70R for where I live does not burn anywhere like that. I would suggest trying Walmart or Amazon or Rock Auto for oil of the correct type and see if that helps the consumption. As long...
