Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)

Very nice white 1998 V70 manual with top trim level in Indiana. I've never seen wood grain on the door cards before. Looks like someone really loved this car.

Pics to prove that door card woodgrain exists:

Re: 850 feels like it it's missing

Wow, that is a hole alright. And the color and deposits on those two valves are different from all the others - but that could have been from after it burned through.

Re: Comfort suspension - 1996 855R

The most comfortable setup on these cars that I've experienced is Bilstein B4 shocks/struts and H&R 29955 lowering springs. Rides better than stock, looks great, and handles fantastically. By far the best setup for P80.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I was about to ask if yo had replaced the orifice valve/filter, especially as you said you found debris in the system. Glad to see you had a picture of the valve and it had done it's job! Major work you are going through. Very satisfying though! Neil. The work is quite easy I found. The good thing ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I've been sanding and grinding so long, that even my mama thinks my mind is gone. https://i.imgur.com/IWzbeXdh.jpg Now it's almost ready for paint, epoxy base coat to start with. This was much harder than welding, and I got frustrated and started all over twice. In the end I developed some new techn...

Re: How to test VVT solenoid

You check resistance of stuff with everything disconnected. In ohm mode, your meter is in a short condition do any voltage you apply will pop a meter fuse (Fluke) or blow it up ( harbor fright). Of the course, your Fluke fuse costs more than the HF meter…. Once disconnected ,touch the probes to the ...

Re: How to test VVT solenoid

The CVVT solenoid can get carboned up with old oil over time. Removing it and giving it a good clean and checking the small filter in the gasket is not clogged is worth a check.

Rad cooling fan cycling with AC - blowing warm- Check the relay

The past couple of weeks have been big time AC weather. I noticed that while sitting in slow traffic, the AC would blow warm-ish (or not as cold) out of the vents. The system is full of freon and the compressor is engaged w/o stopping. What I noticed was that the cooling fan would cycle ON-OFF every...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

From what I know watching too much of a certain kind of video youtube barely tolerates Hot, high pressure gasses have an erosion effect, and any type of debris in the valve face would cause a break in the seal where combustion gasses would leak through. These gasses would slightly wear away at the m...
