Re: Quick "No oil pressure-stop safely" message, then blank - Mechanic says blown turbo

I don't think this was the right diagnosis. More likely an oil feed pipe or a seal has failed. Seems strange you see no evidence of oil anywhere.

Check your coolant and trans oil for engine oil mixing.

Re: Drive shaft vibration is back.

Okay, it's been a few days since I could take a look at this, but today I have a free Saturday, so I got back underneath the car and took another look at things. Where the carrier bracket meets the bottom of the car, there are four bolts holding it in, and those four bolts pass through not just larg...

Re: 2004 XC70 no start - faulty fuel pump and/or electrical connections?

OP Update: Car continues to start without fail. Changed fuel filter 2 weeks ago. An initial hesitation when starting persisted for several days, long after the fuel line should have been fully primed. I thought this was odd but it always started. Starting is now back to normal. However, I soon notic...

Re: Quick "No oil pressure-stop safely" message, then blank - Mechanic says blown turbo

Just wanted to circle back to this thread to (hopefully) wrap it up. I ordered the new pickup tube plus gaskets, o-rings, washers and the newer bolts for the pickup tube and was able to get the oil sump dropped and cleaned out and the parts swapped out. I've been driving the wagon again for a couple...

Re: 2001 v70 soft pedal

Hook up DiCE/VIDA, start bleeding a caliper (with a vacuum pistol type pump), trigger ABS inlet/outlet valves of that caliper. You'll see a large air bubble escaping eventually.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

My 2002 V70 X/C just got the front painted, a couple of new wheels, new tires, upgraded front brakes and a new bumper cover; all courtesy of a front wheel that decided to come off as we pulled the car onto the flat bed tow. Then the monster decided to throw a trouble code, so I think it is off to th...

Re: 1998 V70 Base barely accelerating from stops

Does the car start strong or sputter for a few seconds then livens up. The misty white smoke and struggle to get up to speed almost sounds like a head gasket failure (had it happen on my car with a very small pinhole leak. She would start like shit but once warmed up it would be good) Take your cool...

Re: 2006 XC70 Serpentine Tensioner Pulley Noise?

Update; got my new tensioner and installed it. Install went well. I think the tensioner was actually good but the pulley had a dry bearing and would spin quite freely with no resistance. 1. I moved the steering pump reservoir out of the way. 2. Reached in with a belt tensioner tool and a 60mm Torx s...

Re: wrap flex tube for temp repair

OP here with new info and plan. I removed the metal mesh that covers the flex tube to discover the tube is fine but had completely separated from the pipe leading to the cat. I wrapped this flex/cat joint and tube/pipewith several partially overlapping layers of aluminum tape, redid the cat/resonato...
