Re: Can you test an engine cooling fan out of the car?
I tried a jump pack with the ground lead onto the black connector terminal on the outer frame of the fan, and the red/live to the green and red (alternatively) but nothing. I also tried my 4A trickle charger but again nothing. Is it just because I need a lot more power to make it run? I'm not sure ...

Re: P80 door latch actuator internal lube?
Get some silicone grease at the plumbing section of your local home store. Often used on valve seats there Permatex Dielectric "Tune Up Grease" is silicone, too, as is AGS Silglyde. I've also seen it in little packets at the checkout at Orielly Auto.... from Versachem, I think. Probably f...

Re: Timing Belts, Luxury and Tears...
...I couldn't find a mirror, so I used a compact disc to see up under where you can't see. Such a pain. Wow, and I thought my process was kind of a pain. I would shove my phone down there and take random pictures until I saw what I needed to see. I was glad I was able to do that though because I di...

Re: Going to start with the ABS module
Usually getting a high mileage Volvo sorted is the purging of the crap parts cheap Scots have used instead of Volvo or good OE replacements. I'm not sure anything has been done to the 98... from what I see, broken stayed broken. Headlight wipers missing, fuel door missing (I did see it got tossed i...

Just don’t start with something too crazy….. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=95351&start=120 Oof, that's rusty! I didn't read the whole thread, but did skim it..... what finally happened with that car? This V70 is not as clean underneath as my 850, but wasn't horr...

Re: have to rebuild front brakes after one siezed. Opinions?
I searched everywhere for bare pistons and never found them. The best I found were stainless steel pistons for motorcycles. They had small ones for the rear but not large ones for the front. I worry that stainless has different reaction to heat when compared to stock pistons, which may lead to prob...

Re: remove catalytic converter
Lots of people do it, but it is still illegal federally. I think I'd stick in a universal cat.

Re: Drive Cycle With Front Wheels Jacked Up
For the record, "driving" the car on jack stands does not sound safe to me. If the vibration were to allow the car to fall, you'd launch forward. When cars are run on a dyno, they're restrained with heavy straps, and a huge fan sits in front of the grill providing air flow. The proposed s...
