Re: Check your Banjo PCV bolt

Krons wrote: 29 Mar 2025, 07:51 How many hours of work to replace the banjo bolt? Looks like access is removing the steering pump and removing with ratcheting box end wrench?

Asking as I know the PCV job is quite a chore.
Need to unbolt alternator and shift it to left as well.

Re: '01 Idle Stumble/Surges

Nice call with the alternator regulator, I hadn't heard about this defect yet, I'll look into it. Fortunately I checked my fan module a while ago and its part number is not of the affected ones. I'm just curious how they function and how to know if it's functioning correctly. So was it really plug a...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Warm, dry day, after week of cold and rain, and before week of cold and rain. Sneaked under to check it is really the driveshaft that clicks under the console. It is... U-joint spew grease, vibration destroyed the rubber. Or vice versa. Anyways, I think I'll bite a bullet and get this Dorman drives...

Re: What year XC70 should I get as a daily?

For an XC70 stick to the P2 platform. So the '08 is a no go IMO. It's very clear the '06 and '07 are the preferred years for P2. I don't have the time or quick recall to list them for you on the spot but, many bugs worked out by '06. The transmissions are not bulletproof but if taken care of will ru...

Re: What year XC70 should I get as a daily?

The least troublesome P2 wagon for me was 02 V70 with no AWD and basic NA engine. Both 05 XC70s I've had were money pits. One is still up and running, but everything in it has been fixed or replaced, and sometimes more than once.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

Working on my daughters XC70 right now, which I picked up for her 2 weeks ago. Installed a new battery and a new alarm module a few days ago, and did the initial drain and fill on the transmission. The fluid was pretty dark, but not horrible. There was a noticeable clunk shifting into first and comi...

Re: 2006 S60 2.5T AWD Parking Brake? Problem

Heres how it went for me, I figured its a 90 minute job. Jack the car up, forgot to break the lug bolts loose, lower the car again, got the bolts loose, jack the car up, place on jackstands, the wheel won't come off. Lower the car again and put the lugs in finger tight, drive the car back and forth ...

Re: s60 2001 piston ring gap needed

Because there is none. It is my personal belief volvo never intended for these engines to get rehoned, rebored. No specs no nothing. The closest you can get to actual specs is from the 850 service manual https://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tech/service/850/2.4l_5_cyl_vin_55.pdf This service manual also inc...

Re: s60 2001 piston ring gap needed

I used this Flex-Hone 240 grit brush: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002XUL1F8 + honing oil https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007INQHEU Don't remember where 240 came from, perhaps from Tim Gilles' engine rebuild book. No measurable oil consumption after about 15k miles and 5 years.
