$15 Cargo Cover for V70 DIY
My recently acquired 1998 V70 did not come with a retractable cargo cover. I have seen cargo covers for 2001 and later V70s, but none for mine. These things also seem to be priced awfully high for what is essentially a window shade. Well, anyway, I don't have a garage and have been working on the ca...

Tip for easier work on front of engine
I thought of a tip today to make it more comfortable to work down low on the front of V70 engines. The steel radiator support has an edge on the back side that is always cutting into your arms. This is particularly hard when the fan is removed. I realized a length of split hose or wire loom would ma...

Re: 2003 CV axle install.......the easy way!
Blacklab, excellent writeup. This photo is especially outstanding (but they all are very good):

That Mopar is a Challenger? '68ish? 318, 340, gasp 426 or gasp 440? Discussion continued here.

Re: How often do you guys flush your ATF?
8 year update on this thread.
I’m now running three slush boxes, all on Valvoline maxlife synthetic ATF
All cars got three drain and fills over a month when they joined the fleet, then get the 3-4 liter “ update” each summer in the nice weather during the nice weather

P80 Inspection, service and repair check list
I have started on a check list that came as an idea when working on my friends 98 wagon. Casting an eye over the car made me realise there are a lot of places to check. I have not got close to finishing it yet or perhaps figuring out the best way to present it and make it the most efficient to use. ...

Re: 1998 V70 NA - Wrong Strut Bar
Take the bar off and reverse it's direction. Then the mounts should fit but makes the tab to take the top off the 'kidney' fuse box a challenge. That is a Volvo strut brace, same as on my P80 00 V70R. Just went to the garage and double checked. Yes bar is on the wrong way around. Pull the bolt eithe...

Re: 1998 V70 NA road trip checklist
It depends. Ball-joint is part of the lower control arm and cannot be separately replaced as is bonded in. You have to replace the whole lower control arm. There are good and bad quality ones out there and the brands I have used include the OE Volvo and Lemforder. Others may be able to recommend oth...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Installed the new throttle cable today. After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I was expecting this to be an involved hassle, due to the firewall connection. But no exaggeration; I had the whole thing switched out in 10 min. ( It did take another 10 min. to adjust it ). So what I found that work...

Re: P80 Inspection, service and repair check list
Apologies about taking so long to get back to this. My trainer (the boss!) has been busy so I had to wait until she was available to help. I have re-loaded the spreadsheet in XL format and have set up pages on it. They are not ideal, but did it this way so sections were not split onto different page...

Robert "rspi" Spinner is recovering from Covid
Again. He was hospitalized briefly, back in Cincinnati now. If folks have a minute, stop over on his Y/T posting and wish him well.
