Were I in your shoes, I would look to find a used set of snows already mounted on wheels and use them through the winter (assuming you have some place to store a second set of wheels). Then pick up some new all season radials in the spring mounted on your existing wheels. You will definitely notice ...

I've melted them out with a plumbing torch a couple times now (combined with some judicious drilling and use of the proper delta link removal tool). The secret is to heat the trailing arm around the delta link and not put the heat directly on the rubber -- unless you like flaming gobs of goo droppin...
