Could be a Maf connector too....they are prone to failure...and they give you intermittent problems.
You will need a small precision screwdriver to close the gaps on the connector.
If that doesn't help...it's the Maf.

Motul 4100 15w-50 sds have incredible numbers on paper...with pour point of -42 Celsius...which is the same like 5w grade oils. Turbo and n/a manifolds?
Document shows Volvo sas system....it's the same on late 850s and s,v,c70....it's not specific to 850 only.

N/a with automatic transmission is idling close to 1000rpm when it's in "D".
Manual a bit less.

Nope! You need to remove the hose from air filter housing...not from SAS valve. If you remove it from sas valve you should feel a vacuum not air blow. Sas system and pump is operated by ecu. It should turn on on cold engine for just about few seconds. The easiest way to test it is to apply 12v direc...

Last year 850s with M4.4 still use flash codes for ECC ONLY.
Everything is fully OBD II except ECC.
So...flash code reader will work on ECC.
S,v70 from '97 (transitional year from 850 to S,V70)got fully OBDII ECC and Volvo Scan tool is required for diagnostics.
