volvo 1993 850 GLT codes check engine light

Post by lawsontg »

My 93 850 had service light on for couple weeks, goes off after couple minutes. Then Check Engine light came on and stayed on. I followed steps from an 850 document on this site, recorded codes then cleared. drove car check engine still on. tried again, then checked cleared B box. now no check engine light. now what? Do codes that were cleared need to be checked out? Still get short service light, but car runs fine. Some codes match with list in this sites OD1 for 850, some not but wonder if clearing them means they were just stored or needed attention. Bottom line is all codes except B5 were cleared, no Check Engine light on after driving several times, Service light comes on for a minute. Anyone know what next step is. Don't really want to go foreign car place and spend $500 - $1000, especially if car only needs some tune-up adjustment. Had oil changed and all fluids checked recently.
codes were:
A1 clear
A2 clear
A3 4-4-4 2-1-4 2-1-3
A6 1-1-2 1-3-2
A7 clear

B1 4-1-4 2-1-1 2-3-5
B2 1-2-2
B5 2-1-2

B2 would not clear using steps in OD document.

A6 is ignition ecu.
It sets cel just like A2,which is engine management(ecu).
LH 3.2 Jetronic have engine management and ignition ecu as a two separate units.

You need to read and reset codes from A6 too.

Thanks for reply. Have reset all, and check light not back on. Does that they were just stored and not important, or do I need to have a mechanic check it all out? The car is starting and running great, all fluid levels ok, oil change and checkup done 3 weeks ago.
Don't want to pay the high prices of foreign car shops unless immediate need.

Service light is just that. It’s triggered by
your odometer to remaind you to change,
your oil, etc. Should be an easy reset on
an 850. Dig around the site a little.
