Re: digital odometer 2006 v70

What was the code? I'm surprised to hear of such a plenary sensor given all the posts I've read.

Unplug this sensor, drive, replug this sensor before inspections, sell car for more money....SIMPLE!

Re: Volvo P2 used market

320 P2's within a 500 mile radius. That's good. A breakdown by years would be revealing. Example: I've noticed that the "money and brains" people are more prone to selling off their pre-2004 P2's. I've benefited from these automotive websites. You can compare and arrange them by usability....

Re: Possibly headed to look at 2006 XC70 - couple of questions

I'd bet ANY P2 for sale with 130K has not had it's timing hardware replaced. Why do you single out the tensioner? There's an idler pulley and the belt itself. The water pump is said to last 2 timing belts. If you get this car do the t-belt/idler and tensioner and leave the water pump IF it exhibits ...

Re: dipstick tube O ring

Ha-ha My dipstick seal was old, dried and loose. I bought a real, OE replacement seal. After installation I landed the dipstick. I tried pulling the dipstick and the red plastic part broke off leaving the stick in the tube. So, I advise you clean the involved part of the tube so it's smooth inside. ...

Re: 2004 S60 T Exhaust Pulsing at Idle, misfiring erratically around 0.3Hz

Here's where an affordable (cheaper) code reader can speed things along. A misfiring coil will generate a P0300 through P0305 code. The 300 would mean "random misfire'. 301-305 would point to misfires in cylinders 1-5 respectively. I'd bet buying (or borrowing) a cheap reader would be less cost...

Re: V70 wheel and tire size

Test fit any 15" or 16" wheel to ensure they will clear your brake caliper.
Musca and Lysithia wheels are my favored wheels because they're 15" but more importantly 65 series.
This fascination with low-profile tires puzzles me. They are so vulnerable.

Re: New to Volvo

How many miles are on your flooded $300 '03? One good feature of the non-turbo is the ease with with you can remove the ETM should that become necessary. The turbocharged versions' ETM is buried within and below the intake manifold. Just to complete the thought, the early design ETMs wear in a manne...

Re: New to Volvo

Texas you say? Give your coolant a check.
Volvo coolant does last a long time.....but some "thoughtful person" may have changed it to some lesser brew over the vehicle's 17 years.

Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?

My caveat for using spring compressors isn't needed here. It would've been the one to make sure you go "even Steven" between the 2 sides. I will advise you to get some thick cloth tape and place a 10" strip across the very top of the wheel well. Believe me, when you go to set the stru...

Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?

Scratching my car's paint during reassembly would've been a negative. Not really issue material but it could be when time came to sell....plus every time I'd see it I'd feel less a man. addition: Never have I required alignment after 4 strut cartridge replacements. Lead pencil marks became photos. N...
