Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?
SUGGESTION: This can work economically only if you have tires in service which are "squarely worn" (worn evenly across). Do your struts and just be careful when tightening the lower 2 bolts. Take pictures and be visual. Then DON'T get an alignment. See how your old tires wear. I repeat, I'...

Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?
Excuse the delay in responding as I was away. To MoVolvos: P.P.S.#61435971 for the forward, horizontal bushing mailed by a friend in England. P.P.S. (Professional Parts Sweden) doesn't have a good reputation, however I believe these to have been made by a good factory as the fit was perfect and the ...

Re: Windshield washer fluid leak
There's a combined sieve/grommet/coupling which can pop out of the reservoir's side.
I popped mine back in and all was well. Recently it seems a sealant is needed.

Re: Strange oil leak near front engine mount S60 2001
The color and the appearance of it having collected in the forward seam suggests a slurry to me. Driving over fresh white paint stripes on a dirt road in the rain lately? Can you gouge out a sample with a veining tool (please excuse the wood carving tool reference) and burn it? The resulting flame c...

Re: 2004 S60 2.5T AWD Oil Change
It's real easy to overthink something like a first oil change. You'll do fine. 1) I spread an old packing blanket between my ramps to catch any flying drops of oil. 2) Many of the "white engines" listed 6.1 qt. as their capacity. There's your 7 quarts. 3) No need to change the oil drain pl...

Re: Change out the oil or not?
I agree with StickyPocket on the arbitrary 12 month, low mileage OCI with no reasoning except that I've read of people doing so. If since February your car has done nothing but 2 mile trips to a store I'd consider doing an oil sump change then following abscate's advice. Short trips obviously create...

Re: Transmission drain and fill - funnel size?
1/2" is the O.D. of the tubing I use. The I.D. read 1/3". I just mic'ed it to be sure. I set one end of a 14" long piece in boiling water to soften it. Then onto a funnel the softened end goes. The tubing fits perfectly into the dipstick tube but you still have to pour the new fluid i...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
R&Red my 2007 V70's gear selector lever -part number deliberately withheld as there are many and a full VIN lookup is required. The part was $137. SYMPTOM: The gear selector would fail to "unlock", leaving the vehicle stuck in P. Jiggling it would free it. I used rubber bands to secure...

Re: T5 vs T6 and how is your 10 year old holding up?
I have a 2015 with the oft maligned 2.0l., a T5. It has 109k on it and it's the nicest car I've owned. It had great maintenance, and I got it with new timing and accessory belts, coolant and transmission maintenance. I do kill the "Auto Stop Start" every time I get in. It burns no oil. Whi...
