Re: Solved! 04 V70; Brake lights don’t work, position lights stay on with ignition off
In conclusion, replacing the entire rear harness was surely the way to go. I sourced one from a local pick & pull yard for about $47 USD. As I was installing it I also wrapped all exposed portions of it with high temp electrical cloth tape (thanks for the suggestion by Vova). Aside from pouring ...

Re: Non-Volvo car chat megathread
Well that time of the year again when I get a chance to rub tires with some of the "upper crust". Needless to say, I parked around the corner. IMG_20250409_113733753_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_113759362_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_112700051_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_112644550_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_111857130_...

Re: Car won't start sometimes, then runs fine
Last update: after trying with up to 3 different relays, I read online about another common problem of these old Volvos that leads to a similar problem than mine: a defective antenna ring. I installed a new one 5 days ago and so far I haven't experienced the no-start problem again (knock on wood). S...

Re: Retrofitting fog lights
The Grey 104/108 relay does have an extra connector than stock green one. I pulled another J relay, from under dash, but don't know if its different. There is a plug behind the panel next to rear fog light switch, Plugs for fog lights are near front valance. You need special trim like the one I foun...

Re: '92 850 Key Fob only flashes the blinkers, does not unlock.
Mark that solved, sorry for that i didn't follow up. Had a lot of work this weekend.
I needed to place the other car's central locking relay. That was the solution.

The time Volvo shamed Ford for making an unsafe car (by being themselves)
Interesting history tidbit: Some of the first generations of the Ford Explorer were death traps. They reduced the amount of strength in the roof after its initial release, despite engineers concerns, probably in order to save weight and increase fuel economy. They made it so bad that it'll crumple l...

Re: AW55/50 Dipstick Oil Level
I posted info on this topic in this forum but I will post again re checking ATF with engine Hot/Running (what the book says) versus engine Cold/Off (based on my observation). I now check ATF with engine Off/Cold bc it is much safer (no risk of burning my fingers). Let's say before a long trip, all I...
