Robert Spinner (posting as rspi here) is doing one right now in California.
I agree with the advice to get all the bits form the donor car, especially the trim pieces around the shifter - and of course, be careful, all that plastic is brittle.

Re: Need new brakes on 2000 s70
Take a look at the brake hoses; old age is harder on them than miles. Meyle , ATE, Febi all have good reputations. Rotors are more prone to heat and mileage related issues; if they look good - no big grooves or cracks, etc., and if you're not headed for the track - it would be less expensive to do p...

Re: What should I do with my 98' v70 wagon (base)
Do the driveablity and safety/maintenance things first; rear shocks are easiest and pretty straightforward, unless you find lots of rust on the fasteners, then go slow. Patience is the trick. Front shocks are strut mounted, so unless you buy the complete unit - a bit pricey - there are spring compre...

Re: 1995 Volvo 850 just purchased
Those are some of the best re-finished wheel I have seen. ! Neil. Hi Neil, thanks for the kind words. I'm fortunate to have a really good powedercoating shop near me in York and they charged £54 per wheel including removing the old tyres and fitting the new set I supplied, including balancing. More...

Re: 1998 V70: tailgate stuck shut; how in the world do I remove the trim panel while it's closed?
Just went through the very thing. As Neil mentioned, the clips/brackets are likely already in various stages of failing, so once you get the latch surround mentioned off, you really do just have to start tugging on it. Mine was repaired by a previous Technician with 8 nice, long sheetmetal screws. I...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I literally replaced my oil cooler lines with bluebox new parts the day before he announced he was blocking off the cooler channels from now on. I could have saved $300. Oh well, need to source a plate before they leak again in 100k miles. Well the good thing is that you can rest assured that your ...

Re: 1998 Volvo V70 Emissions Code P0442 - minor leak
Neil - Can't remember where the lug nut issue was raised, but I just looked at Poor Old Blue, it has the steel wheel lugs, they were black oxide finished instead of cad plated, but are the short head style. A bit rusty, since the car is resting under the Pin Oak, let me know how bad yours are ?

Re: WTB : P80 wheel lug bolts
Does anyone out there have a set of reasonable lug bolts they no longer need? I have been working on a friends car this weekend swapping out the winter tires and the chrome on long head bolts as used on the alloys have failed, some to the point there is no chrome left. This is a pain as they kept j...
