Re: Door panel buttons not working
Go to the RH door and push and release the lock button on that side. It seems that a stuck button anywhere results in the VGLA module for locks and such on the 98-04 shuts down.

Re: Persistent Engine Performance Issue- even after major fixes
Before you do anything else turn key to Pos II and wait over 45 seconds for the throttle sensor calibration to happen. You will hear throttle cycle twice. The ecm closes it fully to check min voltages and then opens it fully and checks max voltages (truly it is min voltage closed on one and max clos...

Re: Haldex system function question -
Yours is still first generation but with improved pressure and temp sensors. The electric pump on the first few generations was a low suds pump, its job was to effectively push out air and make the clutch apply as quick as possible via as little as one mechanical pump stroke. The solenoid is the con...

Re: bad tire pressure sensor 2010 xc90
The batteries get weaker when cold so initially they will quit on coldest days and then get to where it is not a very cold morning and they quit. The benefit of a whole set is that there are sets sold where the cost is about 4 for the price of three. I know of no parts stores with the tool as it is ...

Re: Haldex system function question -
Haldex started with the AWD S60 in 2002 and the XC70 got it in 2003. The 2001-2002 XC70 had the viscous clutch unit which was a longer term apply system but still had to have some slip to work. The gel in the viscous unit has a behavior like wetted corn starch (antithixotropic) and will stiffen and ...

Re: Temp Guage/Sensor
Get a paper clip and set it on the anvil part of a vise or other metal surface suitable for hammering metal flat. Flatten the paper clip on the end for 1/2 inch to be the approximate thickness of those pins you see down in sensor connector. Use that end to insert into the connector on harness for th...

Re: Crankcase pressure from boost
InkedP1 turbo_LI.jpg On the turbo on P1 models is a check valve fitting that is supposed to let crankcase pressure in but vacuum lifts the ball and seals it. The check valve goes in the location circled on the turbo pic. The ball may be gummed up, lifted and stuck. Or the hose to it is crimped or o...

Re: Burned Valve Database DATA ONLY or a P0455 code will be set
Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. Rocker arms were always set with a touch of geometry that made valve move, at least in the 50's 60's and later when it was figured out. Bucket tappets work squarely on the valve and reduce guide wear but the only way to get any rotation that will rotate...

Re: Installing sway bar end links
If both sides are off the ground then the sway bar will not need to be pried. That happens when one side is not at the same position as the other a that when the sway bar gets twisted. The threaded ends use locking nuts. The ends of the threaded studs should have Torx in them to use to hold the stud...
