Re: Fuel filter location - 2008 XC70

There are sources selling the inside the tank mounted fuel filter. You remove the fuel pump and then follow the accordioned line to the filter. The filter is held by a plastic flexible strap that you unhook and then pull the filter into the opening. The other line on filter is not long enough to get...

Re: Why does VVT have to be "unloaded" before removing the timing belt ?

The reason is simple: on the the 99-2001, the exhaust VVT has a spring. If you turn it CW to the marks then when you remove belt the exhaust gear moves and you have to fight it back to the correct place while fitting the new belt and getting everything in place. If you go past and then CCW back to m...

Re: 2004 T6 Compressor Bypass Valve missing???

The bypass was in the central location and they did away with it with the engine revision for 2002 model year. The intake noise was louder, not too bad on S80 but louder on XC90 and the rubber foam lined plastic engine top cover was the sound dampening to address noise. The short version 3.0 T6 engi...

Re: 2004 T6 Compressor Bypass Valve missing???

P2 all have an intake pressure sensor. 99-01 it was on the tube from intercooler over to the throttle with an intake temp sensor separate mounted next to it. 2002 brought the temp/pressure sensor stuck into a hole on intercooler right in front of where the tube to throttle connects to the intercoole...

Re: Position II fuel pressure - 1999 V70XC

the 2 seconds of pump run in engine off pos II will get you 10-20 psi for one key on on lots of cars but usually the correct pressure on the third key on pump run.. That 99 has the fuel pressure regulator in a fitting on fuel line back by tank so fuel press regulator was not new with a new pump asse...

Re: Replacing the heated 2016 S60 windshield with a non-heated windshield?

There will be a fault code when codes for the entire car are read out but otherwise no ill effects. I bet a resistor, even a bulb in a two wire socket hidden above headliner would stop the fault code. The monitoring module applies a minuscule current and detects continuity with an intact windshield,...

Re: Mating engine to gear box

OK, the other thing that should be checked is torque converter depth from face of trans bell housing. The torque converter may have come out and is no longer splined to stator support or drive lugs to trans pump. I forget which one splies up last as the TC is inserted. Measure the plane of the TC bo...

Re: Intake air temp showed up as 203F. Normal?

My favored method of defeating those doors when they stick is to use a drywall screw through a drilled hole on the flap run into the housing to hold it to cold air position. It is reversible. The drilled hole is to avoid the drywall screw cracking the door once it screws all the way down but he scre...

Re: 96 960: air conditioning not working correctly

The doors on that system, except the blend door (temp door) are vacuum operated. The vacuum line goes from down on side of intake manifold below throttle to over where a/c lines enter firewall in front of passenger. Make sure the hard lines and the rubber end elbows are not cracked open or obstructe...

Re: 96 960: transmission fluid type? I have tls

That is fine. Dexron-III was the original but T-IV/JWS3309/TLS was the fluid used if torque converter clutch chatter was a complaint. T-!V spec is backward compatible now as the original fluid is replaced by the higher spec stuff.
