Re: Im having a hiccup at 2000-2500 rpm range on my 1998 v70r

when there is a distributor involved the rotor and contacts in cap for the plug wires are not in alignment when timing is advanced or retarded a lot. The gap the spark jumps is larger and it will jump across a track in cap to another plug wire contact if the correct plug wire has resistance. Require...

Re: Oetiker project stopper. Zip tie instead?

I open Oetikers that I can't get to catch. The pre-crimped area can be opened up by putting the clamp on a vise with the jaws opened 3/16.I position the crimp area not inline but perpendicular and then drive a metal chisel (or a screwdriver) and tap to use it as a wedge to open that crimp. Sometimes...

Re: Massive Coolnt Loss Tonight - Advice Needed

If the a/c was off and it was idling then the cooling fan would not come on until coolant temp went over 220 F. That seems high to us but it is the temp range most brands use for 20 years now. In workshop techs never leave the cap loose or off with car idling extended as they don't want to clean up ...

Re: On SHELL 89 grade fuel - Improved mileage?

Advancing timing will make it knock worse. If you have the peak fuel burn occur when the combustion space is less then the pressure and thus temp is higher. The higher temp will make deposits in cylinder and the spark plug ground electrode hot enough to be ignition source without spark (pre-ignition...

Re: 06 S60 Brake Pedal Position Sensor going bad after 6 months?

Remove the electrical connector and inspect for any corrosion and for female terminal tension. You can use a paper clip and hammer it to flatten it to be the same approximate thickness as pins in the sensor and then insert it into connector and see if falls out on its own and also if there is felt d...

Re: Dealer oil change vs chain oil change

I've been cutting firewood. When I saw this in the list I had to open and read about someone wanting to know whether they should do dealer oil changes or change their oil using chain oil. Why wouldn't anyone put chainsaw chain oil in their car?????? Dealer vs. quick lube. Maybe for cars over 8 years...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Chasing fluid at the bottom of the turbo

Remove the black backup latch by prying down in this view on RH side and then slip it left and pop it off. You have to do this first before you can slide a cuff tool in towards right to psuh the latching springs outward so the lines can be slid apart.

Re: Maf sensor wiring diagram

Under S80 select TP 39115202 and enter 50 in the page selector in the PDF tool bar at top. Or go down the left side and select engine control module and it will jump to page 50. The MAF is item 7/17 right at half way down that page.. The pin numbers at 7/17 are the numbers on connector body and the ...
