Re: RPM dip; ongoing with 2000 V40
Actually I mentioned 3 things. Clean things first. Be careful when cleaning the MAF as those can be somewhat fragile. Don't clean the internal wires with a brush, rag etc. Try these things first before delving into changing parts. Hate just throwing parts at things. Take note of the condition of the...

Re: 2001 V40 speakers info
No doubt that if the paper is shredded, the speaker is no good.
I never checked my speaker before changing my radio. We were used to listening to the back speakers only.
It was a nice surprise to hear all the speakers working after the change.

Re: 2001 Volvo S40 Stalled out and now won't start
We just replaced the FPR, I thought that was the issue too, only thing we have not done is get a new fuel filter. You may have misunderstood what I meant. The FPR regulates the pressure. Replacing it will have no effect on how much pressure the pump provides. My point was to check the fuel pressure...

Re: Adding fog lights to a 2002 V40
I have no experience adding fog lights, but I suspect the car is already wired for them. Pull the covers in the lower bumper and see if there are wire connectors there. Also, pull the plastic dashboard knock-outs that are near the rear fog switches and see if there are plugs there. There may be an a...

Re: Broken timing belt 2003 V40
Not sure how you're thinking of checking the valves, but I can't think of any way of doing it without removing the head. However, I would think doing a compression test will let you know. But the problem with that is that you will have to have a new timing belt installed to perform the compression t...

Re: Light switch help
Though I can't speak specifically to your Bulgarian '96 V40,
a failing CEM has been known to cause headlight issues on US delivered S/V40 cars.

Re: car won't start and run
Are the cams turning when trying to start the car?
Have you jiggled around the AMM connector?

Re: Neither radiator fan comes on
FWIW, it takes a long time for the cooling fan to kick on on my '01 without the AC on. But I don't have any data from the OBD2 port. And the temperature gauge always reads just under half-way. All I can offer is that it took a good 10-15 minutes for the the fan to come on recently after a 1/2 hour d...

Re: Thanks for using the MVS-Amazon link!
Ok, thanks for the explanation.
I'm on the right track in that I put things in the cart but may not pull the trigger for a couple of days.

Re: Red alarm light not working but alarm is fine
Where is the red alarm light that you're referencing? The one near the right front speaker on my '01 only blinks in the dark. And even then, it seems intermittent. I never paid much attention to it. But honestly, I'm not really that concerned with someone messing with my 20 year old/250,000 mile S40.
