Re: Manifold bolt broke
You should be fine. At least it's on the intake side, not the exhaust. Lots of room to work and since the intake really doesn't get hot, I doubt there would be any warping if you ended up without a bolt. If it's sticking out, then vice grips might do it. If it's flush or below the surface, then a re...

Re: Intermittent pulsing scraping noise from front end
First 2 things I would check:
1) The brake dust shield is not touching the rotor.
2) It could be the support bearing on the RHS axle. It sits just behind the RH rear corner of the engine.
Neil.

Re: P0442 - Minor Evap leak - ideas? 00 V70R
Neil, I had a persistent EVAP code, and literally the only rational and logical way to troubleshoot those things is with a smoke test. I went to the canister and pumped smoke one direction and then the other, and it was immediately apparent where the problem was. That's assuming that there is a leak...

The bearing is not listed as a replaceable part by Volvo for 99- cars. However, the part is listed for -98 cars and is the same part. I bought bearings from Turkey for a Ford Transit that are the same size. I did write a not about that a few years ago for dimensions required. It can be hard to remov...

Re: P0442 - Minor Evap leak - ideas? 00 V70R
That is very useful. I will be pissed if it is anywhere at the rear as little of the evap system is accessible without dropping the whole rear subframe..................Been there and done that. Never want to do that again! Neil. It seems odd to me that Volvo had so many variations of things like t...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
My crazy homemade puller worked. The clutch fought for every mm and there were no signs of rust between the splines. I removed both shims and added some antisieze for the future. The clutch now sits at 0.4mm instead of 0.7mm. Test start confirms I didn't break anything. Apparently for the xc90 you n...
