Broken Lumbar Support, Driver's Seat
2008 S60 2.5T 168k So, I was leaning back in my beloved S60 seat when the lumbar support (which I always have cranked all the way up) broke. It is the manual lumbar support operated by the wheel on the side of the seat. After doing some digging around, I found that the likely culprit was a snapped c...

Re: Proven method to remove an engine oil stain on a cement driveway
Kitty litter and a brick.
Pour a thin layer of kitty litter on the stain.
Gently rub the brick over the kitty litter. It will break down eventually...just add a little more and keep working it until you're satisfied.

Re: Proven method to remove an engine oil stain on a cement driveway
Yes, it helps to have a run of dry weather. I use a fairly large landscaping block, which is of course heavier than a standard size brick. The added weight helps. You could always apply some more downward force as you're working it in. It does work. I used this method on about 10yr old motor oil sta...

Re: "Engine System Service Required" out on the road.
Nope, you should be fine following the instructions for resetting the maintenance reminder. Just remind yourself to do the maintenance when sonny boy returns.

Re: i need opinions on your ownership experience
2008 S60 2.5T with 220k. This is my second P2 Volvo, son has had two also. When you stick to one particular make/model/variant, you learn what to look for and the maintenance required to keep problems at bay. I plan to run this one until all 4 wheels fall off. It's been running like a top and I do m...

Re: Low beam bulb failure, possible reasons? (2006 V70)
I seem to recall having some issues with the receptacle as well. Can't quite remember that I replaced it with (amazon, ebay) or maybe I just snipped one off from the junkyard. Also recall something about getting ceramic receptacles. Sorry, my memory is failing me at the moment.

Re: Banjo bolt delete?
The dreaded banjo bolt...ugh. Replaced one several years ago when changing out the oil trap in my son's 2005 S80. Took me at least an hour to simply get the banjo bolt back together. My hands are still recovering years later.

Re: brief hesitation at highway speed
UPDATE For the past year or so, I've experienced studder/hesitation at highway speed when accelerating. Finally, experienced failure such that a CEL came on. Turned out it was P0303 and P0300. Looked into cylinder 3 and found the spark plug was loose...not fully seated in the threads. Pulled the plu...

Re: Studder/hesitation when accelerating...new MAF?
Great news! My mechanic was finally able to remove the remainder of the plug. Took several hours but I'm back in business. And the studder/hesitation seems to be gone. I have two new plugs in there now, and three older ones. I think I'll just leave well enough alone and not mess with the other three...
