Re: XC90 pulls when braking... not the same story repeated
Wanted to add a test for the bushings that doesn't do any damage and does not require special tools/diagnostics. I did this on someone's XC90 and it confirmed aftermarket bushings were the culprit for brake pull and drift/sway where overcorrection was needed. Find some rubber you can fit into the cu...

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?
Nail history and collection: When I first got into the building trade almost 50 years ago now, it was said that a carpenter drove more nails in one day than the average person would drive in a lifetime. And looking at some of these framing nails, you can imagine the " guns " needed to spen...

P2 sunroof stuck open; how to manually close it
Hello all, Naturally, this will happen just before forecasted precipitation. If you don’t have time to fix it properly (which most often is to replace/repair the siren/alarm module), or simply don’t care if the sunroof is operational & just need it closed, here is how to do it manually. Remove p...

Re: Chasing a P0014 (and maybe my tail?) on a 2001 V70XC
It was a combination of timing being just slightly off and (what I believe to have been) a flaky and/or gunked/sludged up exhaust VVT solenoid. What’s weird is that after I’d cleaned it as best I could (2001’s had what they call a “non-serviceable” VVT solenoid that didn’t come apart), the bench tes...

Re: 2013A XC90 - 150,000 Miles To-Do List
XHEART, The alternator drive pulley attached to the read will only move if you rotate the crankshaft. So unlike the other side that is very easy to test by moving the belt at the AC compressor, the Alternator side doesn't have a simple test like that. With the alternator removed from the engine it ...

Re: 2001 V70XC - Brake Booster Service
When you lift the cover off it , that should release the slide that lets the connector pull up and off. It’s similar to the OXS connectors.
Sometimes the plastic breaks and the slide lock stays in place. It can be eased out with a small screwdriver. It slides perpendicular to the connector axis

Re: 2001 V70XC - Brake Booster Service
You'll need a swivel/ 13 mm, extension and probably another swivel to get up in there... watching peppermint videos is probably your best resource sometimes I'd like to apply Thor's hammer to these Volvo's.. 100's of times.. now it's fixed!
