Re: PSA - Volvo P2 v70 Long Cargo Interior Limits

Thanks - I guess I should add that a carabiner (a REAL one, with a rating stamped in in in Newtons of force, not one of the cheap fake aluminum ones that say "not for climbing") shoved into the latch on the rear door of a Volvo wagon is firmly held by the door latch and lock, and allows on...

2004 V70 - DTC 4201 - O2 Sensor Graph Reading Assist Requested

So, I keep getting DTC ECM-4201: "Three-way catalytic converter (TWC) efficiency - Power deterioration". But the car runs fine, no other codes, nothing wrong with fuel/oxygen mix, so it seems to be a sensor. So, cleared the error, drove 1.5 hrs to Philly in the rain, and halfway back, the ...

Re: clunking noise from brakes?

Just a comment - upper spring seats on struts can wear (or be cheap crud from the get-go) and cause a "thunk" that appears when braking with moderate to hard force AND when shifting from reverse to forward and visa-versa.

V50 (and other P1s?) DIFFERENT Siren Module R&R and Battery Replace (Now With Part 2 - "The Battery")

My 2010 V50 (and I assume the rest of the C30, C70, S40... so-called "P1" cars) has an "Alarm System Service Required" message on the DIM, and VIDA reported "CEM-DD1B - Communication with SCM control module Signal missing" (SCM = Siren Control Module) But SURPRISE! The ...

Re: Throttle Body wiring connector source? - 02 XC70

Dorman makes a lot of replacement connectors, and might have a match, but take a good photo of the connector, looking into the pins or sockets, and use google image search - you'd be surprised how many Volvo engine harness connectors are used on other cars for things like fuel injector connectors an...

Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle warranty 150K miles / 15 years - ITS REAL!

UPDATE: See 3rd post - Volvo made good, and was also honest to a fault. Just a happy note. I got a check engine light, which VIDA explained as "ECM 2A10 - Center Heated Oxygen Sensor - Signal low" Researching this, I stumbled across this document: https://volvo.custhelp.com/app/answers/det...

Re: 2007 Volvo V50 Stalling and Power issues

The sudden shutdowns are a bad connection, not a bad alternator. Start with the alternator connections, though, as this is where the power comes from to run the car. (One CAN run a car's spark plugs on pure battery for a little while with a dead generator/alternator, but that would be a simple car w...

Re: Door mirror - Is there a re-calibration process? - 02 XC70

Does your car have a "memory" driver's seat with the "1, 2, 3" buttons? If so, this is likely the same "memory" system trying to adjust the mirrors, and getting confused. Adjust them where you want them, adjust the seat, press and hold "mem", and then press &q...

Re: I was so ill I couldn't even post

There are a lot of cases like yours - something's going around.
It lasts more than a week if you have what my friends have.

This too shall pass!

Re: Complete electronics shut down

There is a fuse on the cable that connects to positive battery terminal of many v70s. No, it is NOT documented anywhere in the wiring diagrams. Look at the battery connections, and follow that red cable, as you never know what kludges have been attempted by prior owners, and you have a v70R, a kludg...
