Getting a used ignition coil from the junkyard?

I didn't realize until today, but there seems to be different numbers for ignition coils, depending on the engine Bosch 30713416 for N/A, 2.4t and 2.5t https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-ignition-coil-c70-s60-s70-s80-v70-xc70-xc90-30713416#fitment Bosch 30713417 for R and T5 https://www.fcpeuro....

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70

If you consider keeping the car for another few years, it is the time to replace it. The reason is the age of the car, not the miles. I'd recommend buying online (Fcp, Ipd) a Continental kit for the belt, but without the water pump which lasts 200000 miles on this engine. May as well inspect the ser...

Re: Timing belt replacement 2007 v70

If it's a good synthetic (Mobil 1, Castrol Edge) along with a good filter brand (Mann, Mahle, OEQ) I would be very fine with it changed every year which I actually do, or about 7000 miles. Even then, when the engine is clean inside and everything runs spot on, the oil doesn't even get dark in that i...

Re: 2 broken V70 T5 Volvos with complementary failures

6'7" 250lbs here. My fav cars were RX-7s. Fit like glove and having your butt just in front of the rear wheel was a blast. That's impressive. Only car I remember I couldn't fit my legs under the steering wheel was also a Mazda, but a Miata 1st gen. Tried everything, every position, angle, not ...

Re: 2008 XC90 with door locks gremlins

Some say locking and unlocking the doors 3 times will reset something. Not sure about unplugging the battery, the car may get even more confused. Does it do the same with the spare fob? Maybe replacing the fob battery but I would fear that may confuse the car immobilizer. Maybe also try removing the...

Re: '98 V70 T5 Knocking sounds

I do hear a knocking (along with whistling). Not exactly what I'd call a rod knock but who knows.. Maybe related to some valve? Isn't this engine harsh on valve seals? Just a supposition This may help www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVWY2fMzrpc

Maybe also inspect the timing belt tensioner.

Re: AC quit after awhile - 2001 V70 - This was my fix

When this happens, the a/c lines inside the engine bay will also freeze up literally covered with ice despite the engine bay temperature. This because when the sensor fails the compressor clutch runs without any pause so it cools down the refrigerant way too much. If pulling a sensor from the jukyar...

Re: Considering purchase of 2008 XC70

Failed thermostat should rather have the engine run cooler as thermostats mostly fail (by design) in part-open position The ignition coils by usually quite long lasting but for some reason one or two of them just give up while the others keep going for years - always good to keep a spare one in the ...

Re: Considering purchase of 2008 XC70

The black plastic tab breaks off and the spring is no longer under tension Note: mine broke 5 minutes after removal, another XC70 owner had his break in the same location and he got a temperature warning Very interesting, appreciate the details. Simply it's a very poor design with plastic parts exp...

Re: TCM Control Module Adaptation - NOT Resetting the Adaptation

I show a little how the relearn procedure works at the end of this video. In short, the transmission needs to light the triangle for each up-shifting and downshifting, so in total it has to learn 8 shifting points. Only, it can take many tries to make it learn one or more of these shifting points. R...
