Re: Oil Pressure Gauge and wideband A/F

Maybe I could custom install the wideband into a downpipe by having a machine shop drill in an extra hole and add the appropriate thread size. That way I would be adding the sensor without taking the narrowband away. I could just wire the wideband to the gauge so the ECU would be in the same situati...

Re: ECC climate control temp sensor measurements made easier

You mentioned that the air directional dampers are working, but are you sure they are all working? That one on the right side of the climate control unit, left of the glove box, is notorious for splitting out the damper shaft which is made of plastic. That might be one thing to check and repair if n...

Volvo 850 Outer CV joint interchange data

I have had a torn drivers side outer CV boot on my 94 850 Turbo for longer than I care to admit. Because it wasn't making noise, I was originally planning on cleaning, regreasing and rebooting the axle, but as I investigated replacement parts there seemed to be confounding information on the CV axle...

Re: 1998 S70 GLT - ABS light and Speedo issue (Not ABS module)

The reluctor ring is the toothed ring on the outer ends of the axles. The ABS sensors look for the gaps in the teeth to know if the wheels are moving at the same speed, but also use them for reading the car's speed. They can corrode, fill up with debris, rust so teeth cannot be differentiated and al...

Re: 1998 v70 GLT

The cap and rotor look dirty, and corroded, but for the short term could probably be cleaned up. I did that on my car since I was ordering parts, and I still needed to go to work. I used a wire wheel on my Dremal tool to clean the contacts, and sprayed everything with brake cleaner, and made sure it...

Re: 1998 S70 GLT - ABS light and Speedo issue (Not ABS module)

ABS is always on, the TRACS light turns off the traction control system only, it turns back on by default on startup Talk to mattymoo (email or phone) about your symptoms. I’m still trying to relearn how the speedo gets it data Inspect your front abs sensors and wires for any damage. Replace anythin...

Re: 1998 S70 GLT - ABS light and Speedo issue (Not ABS module)

Anything errant coming from any of the wheels that is enough to cut out the speedo would have set an absolute minimum of two codes, which would be open circuits on both front wheels. With your regular faulty module you would have an absolute minimum of nine stored codes to reach that point, but the ...

Re: 1998 v70 GLT

Some free things to do (maybe you've already done these) - Inspect every inch of vacuum lines, also listening for sounds of leakage. - As mentioned previously, clean the cap and rotor contacts with emory cloth or similar, or scrape carefully down to clean metal. - See if you can locate broken wiring...
