Re: What is this on a 2000 S70?

If I remember correctly the clock spring on that handles the airbag and potentially the horn. A little dab of super glue or epoxy will do nicely on that. No reason to replace it if you haven't been getting airbag codes or noted a loss of other functionality.

Re: '00 S70 GLT - SMI power steering rack tear down

My rebuild plan is to remove the right outer and inner tie rods, remove the right end cap by removing the wire, then replace the right seal. Like a cam shaft seal, I may have to puncture the seal with a screw to remove it. I don't plan to remove the pinion or anything else. I will try to do all of t...

850 Gas Tank Heat Shield Fix

My daughter came home to visit from Boston last weekend and reported a scraping sound from the car. Luckily she was close to getting off the highway and was only 15 mins from home. Her boyfriend identified a dragging heat shield as the problem. We lifted the car up and examined the situation. I didn...

Re: SC-901 radio, why is it so great, scot850?

Why is it so good? To be 100% honest, I just like the mechanical way the CD changer works. Sound wise, the SC-900/901 units have no in-built amplifiers, so you need the external amp for them to produce sound. You can plug them in to the standard wiring, they will switch on, but you won't get any so...

Re: 1999 S70 GLT, hard time starting, intermittent RPM, misfires

99- is a higher pressure. I'd be looking for at least 50 psi running at the rail. Up to and including 98 (first year V/C/S70) is static around 43 psi and may drop when running. The main thing that when your car is running it stays even. If it is fluctuating there is likely a pump issue.

No fuel pressure: Bad ECM

I searched long and hard looking for the cause for my fuel system to fail. All I found were millions of references to bad fuel pumps, bad relays, clogged filters, etc. I tested all those components and they were all good, as were tyhe injectors, fuel rails and hoses, etc. The problem was traced usin...
