Re: '95 850 ECC system stopped working

Read on for a solution. Mines a 1994 but it seems the same sort of thing as discussed on this thread. I've had the flashing LEDs for around 3 years. The aircon doesn't work due to loss of gas but as long as it blows ambient or warm/hot air I'm happy. Then it stopped blowing. I went to the blower mot...

Re: Pre cat O2 sensor reading always 1.00.

This is fine. Anyway, 1.00 is not VOLTS, it's Lambda, the stoichometric fuel ratio, stoich is good. Anything above lambda 1.00 is considered LEAN. Anything below 1.00(such as 0.98) is considered rich, for a wide-band oxygen sensor. All fuels require lambda 1.0 except in high RPM where liquid fuels h...

Re: 1997 S70 'Red' Turbo Vacuum Line

The red line is a pressure line which takes pressure from the turbo to apply pressure to the watergate with the yellow hose. Pressure on the waste gate holds it closed and allows boost to build. The blue hose dumps any unused boost pressure back into the snorkel just upstream of the turbo The TCV va...

Re: 850 steering rack teardown and rebuild

OK, now that I have a moment. When I left off, I was getting the teflon seals on the pinion drum and the rack piston seal. I wound up with a few wraps of electrical tape and some hose clamps on there and let them sit for a couple days (I was busy anyway, so it didn't bother me any to wait). After th...

Re: Pierburg SAS pump on closeout at Rockauto under $100

I'm still waiting for the valve from FCP. I got the gasket yesterday... they shipped a tiny gasket in a box that's approximately the size of a shoe box! I got free shipping, but am still horrified by the waste.

Re: Engine Damage, NEED HELP - 1992 850GLT

A guy I know around here has a 20V NA motor in his basement. we dragged it down there 2 years ago after ripping it out of a 92 that I used for my manual swap. If you can't get yours running with a valve job, I can ask him if he want to part with it. I'm outside of Vienna, so it is kinda close to Slo...

Re: '94 850 no spark

I wanted to thank previous posters for their detailed troubleshooting descriptions, and add a data point for myself as well. Over the past 8 months my 350k km 1996 850 Turbo developed an intermittent no-start condition (ie extended cranking without sounding like it was able to catch at all), 1 in 10...

Re: Rack and pinion Seal replacement

That post about the 2 rack styles was the turning point. Many thanks for that path to follow. As it turns out, the Rock Auto part description does not specify which rack the part fits. (I'm sending a request to update to help the next vintage owner) So the one received was for a SMI and of course I ...

Re: P1332 (Knock Sensor) and P0014 (Cam Timing) – Could This Be ETM Related? [1999 Volvo S70 GLT]

It can affect it- it definitely made a difference in shifting through park- Drive. I would also point to the front mount. I didn't know mine was split until I removed it. The weight of the engine keeps it feeling pretty firm and any sign of a leak was long gone. I got my mounts from FCP but this one...

Re: '99 S70 - ETM Replacement Troubleshooting

Faulty accelerator pedal? Have you tested to verify both pots in it are reading successfully? If that's fricked it won't matter what ETM you put on. Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I probably worded my post poorly. The codes I have, along with ETS light (NO CEL) are as follows: P1017 - ECM P1019 - no ...
