Re: Semi to full synthetic oil change?
Fancy suspension? The standard XC70 suspension is no such thing; 4C or Nivomat XC70 suspension is pricy to replace but very few cars were equipped with either of those. Buying high quality oil when it is cheap is a great thing. In fact, it almost becomes a game. Recently, Fleet Farm had a sale on Sh...

Re: OMG What's with the Sludge/Carbon Buildup on the I5Turbo?
Chay, when you dropped the pan & cleaned everything, did you update the oil pickup tube? Guessing you replaced all the various seals & o-rings, but in addition to these things there is a newer updated version that supersedes the original metal ones. The new plastic ones have a trumpet/bellmo...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Hi Pete, Nice find for an alternative for the Dem pump. Can you please share where you purchased this and how much? I still have the original pump and may need to replace it soon. I ended up buying it through FCP during their Black Friday thing. I had a coupon code also. Being unwilling to pay the ...

Re: Cold Weather - Hood Won't Latch
In my experience with these, the break usually happens at one of these two places. 0BCAAB7A-E63A-40F1-AEF6-26720750F260.jpeg Stiff release/cable pull (especially in winter) is a good sign the liner on yours has accumulated some accumulation. You could remove the plastic hood release handle to see wh...

Re: “Honey, I think the car is making a noise…”
It let itself out.
Hard to determine the order of events with this one, but the oil became repurposed once the case was deconstructed. Right now I believe the gear oil has melted through snow & ice & is holding gravel & dust together in little clumps

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I ordered up some new GKN Loebro axles for the XC. A little history; my originals failed at 240,000 Kms, I then tried 2 sets of Cardone China specials with bad results (vibration right out of the box), then got a nice set of used originals (GKN) from the auto wreckers that have been working well fo...

Re: Another key fob rebuild post?
I suppose it’s an intentional design, like the banjo bolt - keeps things interesting for us loyal folk who like DIYing ;) Nope, I don’t send anything anywhere. You need 1. A laptop, 2. Internet connection, 3. DiCE unit (ViDA software not needed nor is it used in this case). You provide him your VIN,...
