Re: New to me 240

Looking really good. My 1987 White 240 is called Dodo (extinct bird).

Re: Compression test questions

Well I finally got that compression test done. I only did a dry test. The numbers were: #1=155 #2=135 #3=160 #4=135 #5=125. Number 5 seems a bit low. Plugs looked OK but they were NGK & I had the Volvo plugs on hand. Any thoughts on those numbers? Thanks. I'd be sure to focus on technique here ...

Re: 91 240 wagon - bizarre electrical problems

Have you seen any evidence of the dreaded biodegrading wire harness on this Volvo? I think Volvo changed the wiring insulation by 199, but it still may occur. If you are not familiar with this problem, The wire insulation crumbles away until wires in a common harness short to other wires. Weird ligh...

Re: 91 240 wagon - bizarre electrical problems

Look at hot areas like near headlights and over the engine. Also where exposed to the sun.

Re: 91 240 wagon - bizarre electrical problems

Have you checked the condition of the wiring near the headlight switch? It appears the position of this switch impacts other random things they should not.

Re: 2001 V70 2.4T Power steering pressure hose leak

Many a time while wrenching I learned too late I should have stopped work before I broke something.
Hang in there. This is doable.

Re: Water leak Driver's A pillar

Place strips of paper between the body and the seal in the area of the leak and away from the leak. Close the door on these strips. Pull the strips out (or inside) while noting the resistance to pulling. They should all be near equal pull. If there is little resistance at the leak, determine what ha...

Re: Turn Signal Stalk Issue

I saw your other post also and was waiting for someone more knowledgeable to reply. I have no direct ideas for the problem, but have seen similar switch problems solved by careful cleaning. If yours does not work, you have little to lose by trying to clean it. I can't advise how to remove or disasse...

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?

A carpenters joke:
Carpenter 1: Why are you throwing all those nails on the ground?
Carpenter 2: Well, those nails are bad. They have the heads on the wrong ends.
Carpenter 1: You fool! Those nails are for the other side of the house.
