Re: Tires? What do you recommend?

Today? Yes. But seriously, if you're in snow country, an "all-season" tire does none of the seasons really well (or well at all). If you have the budget, you can get a spare set of factory steel wheels or used alloy wheels for a dedicated winter set of tires. Easy to swap and free with no ...

Re: 98 S70 - starts up then dies immediately

Ooooof, you guys are off Fuel pump relay possible, but a bad ECT, like what I have in Kat right now, will do exactly this. When cold, you aren’t getting that rich injection pulse yo get you started. Just a few seconds of running, like 10, and it’s hot enough to run great. It’s a $50 part , we can gu...

Re: Non-Volvo car chat megathread

I'm not jaded, but I'm realistic. P2 ownership has been no pleasure cruise. I don't wish to inherit another 100k vehicle that needs an angle gear, PCV overhaul, timing belt, a steering rack, rear main seal, and an entire exhaust system- I'm just not going to have the time for it. None of the parts ...

Re: 2000 S70 Coolant Slowly Decreasing

0B7DD4A3-69BD-4E05-A529-4EC0AFDFF903.jpeg Final update for those interested… which you probably aren’t. Topped off the coolant with the engine warm before beginning the journey (well, kind of warm, as I had to carefully depressurize the reservoir when removing the cap). Filled it a smidge over the ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Little update on today's work.... Apparently the solar panel is working. It is the first time ever i saw the battery voltage climb up a little. Normally after the engine is turned off the voltage continuously falls, fast at first, then slower as time goes on. After about 24 hours it can drop to as ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Hello again, Well here we are today, one day after installing the solar panel. Another thing though is the sun is still pretty bright out there today so it's not the best test yet. The best test will be on a gloomy overcast day with lots of cloud cover. So unfortunately even if it works very good t...

Re: 1999 V70 Oblong holes on wheels

If the holes are still circular on the outside face of the wheel, the lug bolts will center the wheel on the hub. If not , the wheel is scrap. They aren’t hard to find used for $50 or so Ooops, ghosted Lugnut veto using them if they do not have good, uniform, round holes on the front side that the l...

Re: What killed my S70 T5M... Place your bets

I think rod and/or main bearing major failure is detected with a Fluke test and not a UOI sample. Set meter to ohms and stick it into debris in bottom of pan. 2 ohms or lower is really bad.
