Re: New coolant return hose is hard and cracking

Unfortunately, I don't see how a replacement could help if they just give me another low quality part... from the Volvo brand. Is aftermarket better at this point? Perhaps proactive replacement is no longer the smart option for certain parts, causing a downgrade in quality. The hose is more firm in ...

Re: Fix or Scrap?

Is the river rat role all off-highway? Then keep it and make it work, hammer the door jamb so it opens and closes.

Re: What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?

Started out at 0900 on a one hour wall AC replacement.

Re: Fix or Scrap?

I’m keeping my beloved Yetrude. I bought her back for $625. I found a replacement tailgate and taillights for $180 which seems really reasonable. Yes it’s black not silver but that will just add to her character.

Re: How to deal with a check engine light..?

Is there supposed to be a tab called Live Data?
I went back to give it another go this morning with the engine running.
I do see a message saying no communications with the ECM..
I checked the fuse and it's good.
Can the car even function normally with no communications with the ecm?

Re: Fix or Scrap?

This is the first time numbers appeared in the thread; $2k is a bit stiff for a '99 XC with those miles and an engine problem - likely a burned/broken valve. Most of the theoretical musings here have presumed owner repairs. Professional shop rates make both projects economically challenged. The rive...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?

They got a nice '04 XC70 at the wreckers yesterday so I went there to see if it had anything I could use. I opened the rear hatch and found this sitting there, 4 NOS Oak floor mats new in the unopened bag. And it had a factory trailer wiring harness I needed. Mats were $2.49 each and the harness was...
