Some times I open the ash tray (which has never been used as an ash tray) and set my phone in landscape. It rests quite comfortably there and you can still get a glimpse of Google maps.

Proclipusa used to make one that attached to the right side of the centered area. It wedged itself between the dash pad and the dashboard and did not block any vents.
