My long term average with my R (while still AT) was below 11 Liters.

After 900 km with alot of driving above 200 km/h. I have a calculated 13 Liter/ 100 km average.

From my experience: The long term average is quite okay, but the momentary consumption is not very accurate.

On the topic of mileage, what should I be expecting from an A/T T-5? Is the computer accurate? (Also what app is that?)

In rush hour traffic I get about 30-35L/100km (at an average speed of around 5-7km/h)
Regular city traffic (probably on par with rush hour everyhere else) I get about 20-25L/100km

When my brother took it out for 80km mixed it was about 11L/100km

Comparing the dashboard computer average MPG to trip mileage and how many gallons I fill at the pump, the dashboard readout is pretty accurate. Which is unfortunate for me since I only get around 21-23 MPG on trips that consist mostly of highways with my 98 xc. On my 94 NA with an auto transmission that was on its last legs, non functioning variable intake manifold, and a lead foot to keep from being ran off the NYS thruway, I seemed to get 25-27 MPG.

My T5M56 gets 30 mpg at 55mph, but drops to 26 mpg at 65 mph. The computer seems quite accurate.

The Kat does a bit better but the computer is about 20% optimistic.

V70 was struggling to cold start and started having so misses under load on the highway a good way from home. First suspect was the fuel pump hose again, pulled the pump in a hardware store parking lot (getting really good at it, under 5 minutes!), looked fine, drove home with a light right foot.

Hooked up the fuel pressure gauge and sure enough, it wasnt holding good pressure (dropping to 25psi in 10s after priming). Fuel pump back out, the top end of the hose could be rotated so I added another clamp, without great expectations. Sure enough, that was the issue again !


About to order the most expensive submersible fuel hose i can find and gold plated clamps if that's what it takes for this thing to hold more than 6 months

Replaced odometer gears with new kit from IPD.
The small gear was replaced in 2007 at 230000mi
This time found the bottom gear shattered into several pieces.
The bottom gear is now integrated with the base piece.

The saga continues. I've been try to troubleshoot my xc90 climate system. The driver side alway has less airflow and is 10 degrees warmer than the passenger side. I've verified the blend doors are working correctly. I also discovered a gap in the hvac housing behind the radio that was causing significant air loss due to crumbling foam gaskets. I shoved a bunch of weather stripping in there which helped greatly with airflow. I still cannot figure out the difference in temperature.

I have a 98 v70 AWD with 200k miles. Last Thursday, it started leaking from the oil cooler return line. I decided to just go ahead and delete it after some research. (Sometime in the distant future, i plan to rebuild the old lines using swagelok fittings, as an academic exercise).

The parts arrived yesterday so I decided to give the oil cooler delete job a shot. Leading up to today, id been contemplating dropping the oil pan to clear out the PCV drain passage since I wasn't too confident with the degree of cleaning I accomplished when I replaced the PCV a month ago.

Long story short, I:

1) blocked off the oil cooler thermostat location.
2) upsized the PCV to PTC hose to 5/8",
3) Ran some solid core 18awg wire into the PCV drain passage
4) installed an oil pressure transducer
5) made a big oily mess on the driveway.

I haven't had the chance to let the engine run, but so far, I seem to have vacuum at oil filler cap and dipstick tube again.

I had a lot more trouble with blocking off the oil cooler than I expected. I didn't raise the engine or anything. Everything remained in place. The PCV job was about 2 hours to disassemble and reassemble and two hours to clean the drain passages, install the transducer and maneuver the 5/8" hose from the PCV to the PTC.
