The metal pieces that cover the plastic rocker panels are just glued on. Use a screwdriver to get them off and any kind of flexible glue to mount afterwards. I released fluid pressure at the slave and that didn't help. But tapping the slave with a hammer got it to release and the clutch did engage. M58 transmissions are not too hard to find in Europe, but shipping to the states is a hassle noone wants to do. It's a question how much it's worth to you, though.

it's weird that the passenger side pops, but the driver doesn't because the driver unlocks the passenger side after being actuated.
Maybe you have the rubber bump stop too high, or - as Sveedy suggests - clean and relube it.
