Re: 96 R Center console
Sorry, but no 850 console to hand. The V/S/C 70 console can be stripped down to individual components. You can remove the whole top section on those and swap in another if required. Even the rear section can be done. I had to do this a couple pf times on others cars where the arm rest mounts were br...

Re: 850 steering rack teardown and rebuild
OK, finally got weather and schedule to cooperate to get the rack swapped out. Not much to show, as I was hammering to get things wrapped up before evening plans. Started around 10a and was done putting my tools away around 5:30. I debated on trying to wrestle the rack out by just lowering the subfr...

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
The first perceptible feel of play by hand is about 0.001” or 0.025 Canadian thousands. That’s when you will just detect axial play on a bearing for example. I don’t know what the turbo spec is but I’m guessing is bigger than this. It spins on a film of clean oil pressure so it can probably tolerate...

Re: Introductions, Hello
Nope, not strictly correct. First AWD car was the 1997 850 AWD but the US did not get that. It is mechanically the same as a 98 V70 AWD and close cousin to the V70 XC. Looks like you and your son have a good project there. I wish you good luck with the repairs and improvements!

Re: 99' S70, 5-speed, Immobilizer Problem. End of the road for Matilda?
Just because a relay clicks does not necessarily mean it's working. You know the contacts are closing but the contacts may be coroded or pitted and not passing current.

Re: What are these holes on underside of top of door frame
The Volvo roof rack locks a pin into those to prevent them sliding. Wagons and sedans both have them even if the wagons have roof rails.
Both front and rear door frames have these.

Re: Broken retaining clip on CV joint - 1997 850
Nah this CV joint must come off... Now that I know there's a broken part it will not get back on ever. Worst case is me taking the angle grinder the CV joint and splitting it in two to save the shaft. I've put a pick under the ring to lift it, but it only lifts it at that location, because a part of...

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
Sveedy, how in earth did you get the top end of the motor this clean? Looks like iceblasted ... Pretty easy to do with the head off. Sprayed it with some hot water w/ detergent and let it sit overnight. Then throttle body cleaner spray and a small brush. It does make working on an engine much nicer.

Re: 94 T5 Code 433
I'd replace it, just because they also age. Bad o2 sensor on mine caused massive fuel consumption and bad emissions, but I don't remember driveability issues. Might be something else, I'd still get a new sensor. Don't think a catback alone (without downpipe) would cause issues. Don't know about the ...
