Re: 1st time ac problems
I would swap another ECC because it's quick and easy. It could be the problem but if nothing else would rule it out. The damper motors are hard to access. This illustration shows where they are. I found it in this thread https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=50525&p=251432 He ...

Re: Cracked block?
what can one do to prevent this? flush the coolant? I would say that regular coolant change will prevent this. I'm changing coolant every 3-4 years and the old one looks like new....without a hint of corrosion in the system. Most people doesn't know that coolant becomes agressive when it's not chan...

Re: If it ain't broke don't fix it (EVAP System Monitor)
Some success. I have replaced all the vacuum lines for the EVAP/Purge valve system and another Purge Valve with OEM parts from a PnP. This is the line that originates at the (1999/2000 year) intake manifold's center nipple (approx: 1/4 " or 6mm diameter). I also reused the original 3-way adapte...

I remember hunting for this. It is a “bracket” and hides in the engine mounting section of the web store

Re: weird dash malfunction
I would load test the battery and charging system too. It sounds very much like a low voltage situation.

Re: weird dash malfunction
Have a good look at the battery and ground cables, including the joined connection at the starter.
If that’s all good, electrical part of ignition switch, part number...

Re: weird dash malfunction
Battery light will illuminate when there is a permanent fault with voltage regulator or with diodes....in other words....when there is no voltage output from the alternator. Otherwise....if b+ cable or ground cable is bad it will illuminate only if charging output is lower than battery voltage. For ...

Re: crankshaft position sensor-
This post suggests VDO is the OE: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58548#p297548 I just bought a VDO (Continental) crankshaft sensor from FCP, who list it as OE, and there is a spot on the insulation about halfway down the cable that has been abraded away by hand. This is som...
