Re: E-5 Torx socket/ removing ABS module

You should have O'Reilly Auto Parts in STL. They normally don't stock the E-5 socket but they can normally have a Lisle socket (PN 26770) on the counter within an hour after you call them. It is a 1/4" drive socket and it only costs a couple of bucks.

Re: boilover

Head Gasket Replacement Just got finished doing a head gasket job on our turbo S70 GLT. The car had the strangest head gasket leak, one that was new to me. You can skip the story if you'd like. A few months ago my daughter (from college) called and said that she was having coolant problems. When she...

Re: boilover

Sorry to hear you are in the Pittsburgh are, I was born in the area and was emancipated to get out of there. Besides that, a $40 kit is cheaper than 1 shop hour. And 100 times cheaper than a professional head gasket job. Most de ent. Mmechanics can do the test. None in my area wanted to do the job b...

Re: Key FOB stopped working

I had a similar problem with two key fobs for my '97 855 GLT. Back in September I opened up the unit, cleaned the contacts and added a thin copper strip to the switch mechanism. The fobs have been working fine since then. You can see my little write up here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/...

Re: 2001 V70 2.4T ATF simple Drain and Fill...

1998 V70 AWD Exhaust downpipe Heat shield

I'd recommend a periodic inspection of the exhaust down pipe heat shield that protects the drive shaft flange. While changing my front O2 sensor I found mine was laying on the drive shaft coupling. The bolt holes had rusted/wobbled out allowing the shield to fall off. Luckily looks like it had just ...

Re: Finally a real fix for the A-Pillar Cloth trim pieces that peel?

You guys asked how long my repair lasted... LOL. My son found some plastic ones at the pull-a-part and wanted nothing to do with the ones I repaired, so the truth is, I don't know- they sit in my garage!

2006 xc70 Handling Issue

My Xc70 feels like the car is controlling the steering around corners, meaning it feels as if the steering wheel is trying to move itself back and forth when I turn. I notice it mainly on longer sweeping turns. Doesn't feel like anything is loose but feels as if something is powering the steering wh...
