Re: Testing for boost leaks
If you don't know the age of you hoses and vacuum lines and/or are pretty sure they are original, it's probably better to just replace them all and then search for boost/vacuum leaks. Old, rotten lines might not like being pressurized, and it's easier to replace lines when they aren't blown off and ...

Re: poor acceleration after cold start
The fuel pump relay can fail when cold to a "barely functional" state allowing engine to idle poorly. Press the gas and nothing happens. Once the relay warms up from use/engine heat, it begins to work properly again. Same thing can happen if relay gets too hot. When this begins to happen, ...

Re: jack stowage - how does it work?
Tire is now a couple months old. Been leaking since they installed it & re-installed it. Unless the rim is bent/misformed, there is no reason it should be leaking that badly. Take it back and make the shop fix it / find a new tire shop. Also consider that alloy rims are also cheap at the junkya...

Re: jack stowage - how does it work?
... Also consider that alloy rims are also cheap at the junkyard and much lighter than steel ones. Easier to stow. Get one with a reasonably new tire on it. Inflate it to 40 psi and put it in the spare tire well. In 2 years when you think to check it again, it will be at something like 25-30 psi. A...

Re: Hood position pro tip
Make sure to check your overhead clearance if in a garage. Don't want to accidentally smash the shop light hanging over your work area... I'm still finding glass shards 6 months later.

Re: Herman and Operation 30MPG
Well I've been pretty aweful at updating this thread. Long story short my wife is now driving Herman, delivering pizzas. Lol. I'm driving an old Toyota pickup, delivering pizzas. So I've been working with that lately. Boy is it horrible to work on. I've never appreciated how easy Volvo's are to wor...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today? (now Sticky!!)
Just a quick question about bird droppings (I'm serious). Just this morning, I noticed some bird droppings on the fender on my S70. Carefully, with some water and a microfiber towel, I removed the droppings. But then I noticed that the clear coat is somewhat foggy, let's say, damaged. This happende...

Re: ‘98 S70: Water in driverside tail light, how do I fix it?
The seals for the light have failed and are letting water in (obviously). You might be able to get a new seal, or seal it up with some silicone. Or as rspi suggested, replace the light assembly. If you don't want to buy new, easy to grab from a junkyard or find on ebay.

Re: New England Winter for a Desert Volvo?
Only rust spots on my Volvo are from rock chips. She lived in New England most her life before I got her and she's still mint. Doesn't hurt to crawl under once and a while and treat spots for rust, if you can find any. These cars aren't rust buckets. As mentioned above, get an antifreeze tester and ...
