Re: Maybe it's just me, but this 0W-30 oil is impressive in very cold weather
Castrol Edge Professional A3 0w30 is what the official dealers use over here (Germany). However, I found it harder to obtain than 0w40 oils and also more expensive and so I switched to 0w40. Did not notice a difference in cranking but I seem to have lost some fuel economy, although it's hard to say ...

Re: ETM Question
Chad, there are a number of different software versions around and you need the right one. As far as I know there is always a chance of getting the wrong software even if MY and engine match. That said, VIDA would help because you can use it to read out the exact software version of your ETM and tha...

Re: DS Window Regulator Issue, Upper Electronic Module question
Other question is about the upper electronic module. Is the upper electronic module the flat circuit board that the dome lights attach to, or is it stored within the rear view mirror? The UEM is the latter, in a somewhat unholy union of auto-dimming rear view mirror glass (glued on top of the PCB, ...

Re: WTF is up with my Radio
The fault of two seemingly unrelated functions kind of points to failure of the PCB (bad soldering joints?). Hard to trace and fix unless you're an expert, so swapping the head unit seems a reasonable strategy. Beware that you need a unit from the same model year if you want more than basic function...

Re: WTF is up with my Radio
Also an important bit: disconnect the battery before removing the radio. If you don't, an SRS code will be triggered. Set ignition to II before reconnecting.

Re: [2001 V70 2.4T] Oscillating humming noise when driving
Does it change when cornering? That would point to a wheel bearing starting to fail. If that's the case, it'll get worse until the noise is very pronounced when cornering and much less going straight.
As for the tires, to remove any doubt, you could change wheels if you have a second set.

Re: Strut bar brace mounts?
Glenn, the bar can be turned a bit with little force, that's perfectly normal. I also found that amount of play suspicious, so I replaced the left and right mounts, but the new ones were just the same

Re: Relay activating
Mike, 'Full Editor & Preview' is shown just south of the text box I'm just typing into ('quick reply'). Try to obtain the wiring diagram online, it has the names and functions of all the relays. If you cannot find it send me a message. The topmost relay in the left row of the REM (rear electroni...

Re: 2002 V70 Rear Relay/Shunt Removal?
DrDan, all I wanted to do was replace a single, potentially worn out relay. The one I was told that operates the left rear fog lamp properly is on the right hand side of the REM and it is blocked by the trim panel. Seems like a stupid location for it since I can't get full access upon opening the a...
