Re: High Years, Low Mileage - What Can I Expect?

If it was driven on hard roads you could need new suspension parts. I did lower control arms on my 99 at about 120k, New struts and springs at 160k on a car that was gently driven on good roads. What to expect? 200k miles of luxury miles. If you are still lightly using it it needs to get up to 60 m...

Re: What did you put off doing to your P2 Volvo today....... Now Sticky!

Luckily in TN safety inspections are not required. However, it's easier to buy a well-maintained car in states that do require it. So do you just drive around until you yourself decide the car isn't worth keeping or are there still rules but you need to be stopped and checked by chance for anyone t...

Re: '04 xc70 windscreen washers not functioning

Disconnect the hose at the pump and see if it seems to be pumping anything out at all. Next step would be to take the pump off. It's located on the passenger side behind the fender. The fender is fastened by only a few bolts. Not sure exactly where they are on an XC but should be two at the front be...

Re: Alignment after shocks

It's not so much the new shocks as the fact that you're taking everything apart. There are several places with some possibility of adjustment that you'd need to be very sure they're back in the same place. Both at the top of the strut and the bottom. An alignment is cheaper than new tyres. At least ...

Re: POLL: Titans vs. Volans

Re: How important is safety to you?

Can't have been fun just watching the acc it happen to you in the rear view, glad you're OK and also that it happened in the loaner so that your own car is a still OK ;-) In Germany people habitually turn on the emergency warning lights when braking or stopping suddenly on the highway. It's spreadin...

Re: V70 vs. XC70? How bad do I need the AWD?

If you like the height and look of the XC by all means get one. It's still a good car. Just don't work too hard trying to be rational about it :-)

Re: The iconic Volvo 740 Turbo Intercooler

June wrote: 30 Apr 2018, 16:06 My first Volvo! 89 740 GLT except I had the red leather interior and different alloy wheels. I don't remember ones like those being offered. June
Those are newer wheels, not 740-era wheels.

Regardless that's a beautiful car.

Re: 2004 V70 low beam bulbs not working

It's xenon if you've got the better headlights. Probably the ballasts or the connections to the ballast didn't like the water. The ballasts sit underneath the headlights if you want to check the connectors.

Re: 2004 V70 low beam bulbs not working

If it was my car I'd try leaving the hood open in the sun for a couple of hours and hope for the best.

Then never wash the engine again :-P
