Re: Check your power steering auxiliary reservoir
New reservoir in place. Old fluid which has only been in there for two and a half years and 60' km was starting to look dark. I did pump it out this time as opposed to sucking it out of the top of the reservoir last time. It's more likely I got the old dirt out this way. The pictured bottle is flat ...

Re: LED Headlamp options
For low beams no good. Get a set of quality halogens instead. Osram Night Breaker or Philips Extremevision. For high beams the newer high power led bulbs work pretty well and give no warnings. Xenon is still better when it comes to light output but not by too large a margin. It's a question of light...

Re: 2002 V70 X/C front door tweeter
Drop the tweeters in the rear pillars completely and you'll improve the sound stage a bit.
I'm sure you can fit them in the doors with a bit of cutting and gluing.

Re: New England Winter for a Desert Volvo?
They're well protected against rust from the factory so unless the desert has blown the original treatment away it should be fine.
Get proper winter tyres. Treat all rubber seals so they don't get stuck when it freezes. Check antifreeze and make sure you've got wiper fluid that won't freeze.

Re: What do you have for roadtrip support
June: As a preventative maintenance expert you should know regular charging will prolong the life of the battery quite a bit. They can last 15 years if kept well charged.

Re: How is your Volvo in snow?
My experience with old shocks is that they loose all damping properties so that the car only has the springs left. This is after they've leaked enough. So perhaps the stage after what orangex desceibes.

Re: Gunk in the oil dipstick tube
Taking an extra hours drive each week just to boil the oil off doesn't make sense compared to just shortening the OCI a bit. Factor in wear on tyres, fuel etc and it just doesn't make sense. And the obvious: walk or ride a bike if it's so short the car doesn't even get warm. Cheaper and healthier fo...

Re: New England Winter for a Desert Volvo?
Add concentrate to get it to a decent freezing point quicker without having to empty it. Not sure what you meant by this.... concentrate of what? Wiper fluid. At least over here they usually sell in -18 C ready to use or concentrate that does -30 C in a 1:1 water mix. Adding just a liter or so of t...
