Re: Engine Mounts Bad?
Righto, thanks. Any idea how one determines if they're bad? My "shudder" has reduced replacing the torque mounts (they were obviously bad) but it's still there. I wonder also if the motor mounts took a beating by the torque mounts being bad? Another thing: I replaced the upper torque mount...

Re: Thud when pressing accelerator
I don’t know if mileage is the only factor- maybe the age of the vehicle and how it was used? I’ve got a 07 xc70 with 215000k’s about 134000 miles and it looks like all 5 of the mounts are bad!

Engine Mounts Bad?
I read somewhere if the wires on the engine mounts are slack, the mounts are bad. Can anyone concur with this?
I've got some shaking going on under acceleration - new axles, and all new torque mounts, so I suspect the engine mounts, and the wires are slack on both the front and rear...

Re: Water Pump Leaking
Thanks very much for your thoughts. I think I may have over tightened and that is part of the problem; my torque wrench didn't have a low enough setting so I've bought another one today...

Water Pump Leaking
Hi All I just changed the timing belt and water pump; started her up and the pump is leaking like a sieve. Obviously I didn't clean up the block good enough - there was some corrosion from the old pump. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to make sure the new pump will seat okay? How abou...

Re: Moved the crankshaft pulley
Thank you, that’s a relief! I’ve always tried to buy cars that have timing chains - this was my first go at changing a belt!

Moved the crankshaft pulley
Hi Folks I moved the crank pulley trying to remove it when I thought I had to do so when changing the timing belt: well, I worked out I didn’t have to so put it back on the mark and put the new belt on. All the marks line up and I’ve turned the engine over with a ratchet. Seems okay. Probably a dumb...

Re: Manually rotating camshafts by hand using camshaft locking tool, did I damage the valves?
Hi Folks I’m reading this post and have a similar problem: I accidentally moved my crank pulley quite a bit when installing a new timing belt. I moved it back to the timing marks and put the new belt on. All The timing marks now line up. I’ve turned the engine over with a ratchet on the crank and ev...
