2005 s80 issue with lock and unlock

With the fob or with the key itself my car sometimes refuses to lock or unlock. Up until today it was just the fob that would glitch (replacement battery didn’t help). Now it will not even open with the key sometimes. Or lock with the key for that matter. Randomly it will start working again. Tested...

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

UPDATE: although I posted this years ago, I’m just now back on this site. On the off chance this will help someone- this issue was the ignition going bad. The ignition wasn’t communicating properly with the transmission, so it would default to “limp home mode”.

Re: My 850 hates me

Believe it or not, when it was having this issue originally it didn’t have any stored codes. That would be way too easy, right? It also wouldn’t repeat the issue for the mechanic.

Re: My 850 hates me

Thanks abscate! After a quick google search I think it’s the SAS solenoid vaccum. (There’s a connection for it that I remember that is now missing). I think part of my issues are that the mount of the panel above the radiator broke and it caused some things to shake loose. (Pic is after I put it bac...

My 850 hates me

So I thought my flashing transmission arrow issue was fixed by replacing a small leaky hose. Now it's back to solid transmission arrow, that will often go off if I turn it off and sit for a few minutes. I still think it's an air flow issue. And I discovered this little hose (see pic) that doesn't co...

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

I doubt it's the PNP switch, but I guess it could be. It only acts up under specific conditions. It's also an automatic. I do appreciate any and all suggestions though!

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

I was able to drive the car for about 30 minutes to get a proper hot reading. It measures at the very top of the hot line, but not actually above. It also didn’t act up, except one brief blink of the arrow light. I did buy ATF, so I can drain and replace some of the fluid and hope that it hel...

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

I just checked the tranny fluid after letting it idle for about 10 minutes. I know “cold” isn’t ideal conditions to check, but I also can’t really drive it 30 minutes for a hot reading. It’s high, so I’m planning to siphon some tomorrow (hard to do in the dark). I’ll see if getting it to proper leve...

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

The CEL blinked on once, so I guess it could have misfired. It didn’t stay on though, and wasn’t repeatedly blinking.

Re: 850 intermittent yellow arrow light

The oil was changed in June. Transmission fluid was topped up by the mechanic that messed up the air hose install. Thinking about it last night (and reading prior posts of similar issues) I was actually wondering if the issue is that they over filled the transmission fluid. It does appear a bit too ...
