My 850 hates me

Post by Cailin »

So I thought my flashing transmission arrow issue was fixed by replacing a small leaky hose. Now it's back to solid transmission arrow, that will often go off if I turn it off and sit for a few minutes. I still think it's an air flow issue. And I discovered this little hose (see pic) that doesn't connect to anything on one end. Any ideas where this should be? Could it cause my issues? Also my cracked hose (pictured) might be a contributing factor? As always, I apologize if these are dumb questions, I am obviously not a mechanic.

That’s either SAS solenoid vacuum or air door vacuum for the air cleaner. I don’t think either one will cause a transmission fault

The broken ECU housing vent, the fat elephant hose, won’t either

Thanks abscate! After a quick google search I think it’s the SAS solenoid vaccum. (There’s a connection for it that I remember that is now missing). I think part of my issues are that the mount of the panel above the radiator broke and it caused some things to shake loose. (Pic is after I put it back into place with zip ties).

You're probably going to need to scan that sucker and see what the car thinks is wrong... It should have a hard code set, so at least you aren't tracking down an intermittent problem.

In order to learn how to fix something, you must first learn how to break it.

Not checking the system's OBD2 system is like seeing your girl friend stomp around the house, tossing your belongs in the trash and not asking her what's wrong. It's a simple question, when you ask, the reader will tell you. BTW, I do hate when people don't ask what's wrong. lol

Believe it or not, when it was having this issue originally it didn’t have any stored codes. That would be way too easy, right? It also wouldn’t repeat the issue for the mechanic.
