Hi,
Pretty simple question. I can't believe the key doesn't actuate a physical mechanism to unlock the bloody trunk.
Not a crisis, I can get in, but I'm flummoxed...

Re: 1999 S70 steering rack, 2004-2012 S40 electric steering pump. Which hydraulic fluid to use?
Well, I'm going to go with the Pentosin. Here's why: Pentosin is spec'd for some V70's of the same year. V70's appear to use the same PS rack as the S70. So it's possible the rack in my car is fine wih the stuff. I also thought about failure modes. Pentosin is thinner than ATF. If the pump likes Pen...

1999 S70 steering rack, 2004-2012 S40 electric steering pump. Which hydraulic fluid to use?
Hi, I am converting my 1999 Volvo S70 T5 to full electric. The engine is out. Now stuff is finally going in. One of the things I have to put in is an electric steering pump. I got one off eBay, a Volvo unit from a 2004-2012 S40/V50/C30. The manual in my S70 said to use ATF in the original power stee...

Yes, I'm going to wait until I''ve driven the finished car before doing anything. Ride height is not critical path right now...

Most cost effective way to lower front of S70 by 2 inches while lowering spring rate
Hi, I am converting my 1999 S70 to full electric. The front of the car is going to be about 250 lbs. lighter than stock. I'm going to need to lower it by a couple of inches, and should probably put softer springs on also. Does anybody know the stock spring rate of the factory springs on an S70 T5? C...

Re: How on earth does one get the driver's side CV axle to pop INTO the manual transmission?
It's done. It went POP. The engine is out, the transaxle is back in, the car is sitting on its wheels. I am kind of wondering if I'll be putting back enough weight to put the suspension where it needs to be. It's sitting crazy high now...I might be needing diferent springs.... This project is always...

Thank you! I'll try that tonight.
I wish I had a lift. It would simplify much.

How on earth does one get the driver's side CV axle to pop INTO the manual transmission?
Hi, I posted a couple of days ago about my struggles with getting the engine out of my 1999 S70 T5, manual transmission, which I am converting to electric drive. I wound up unhooking the control arms, removing the CV axles, and removing both engine and transaxle at the same time. Well and good. Now,...

Re: Is it possible to remove the engine of an S70 out the top, without removing the CV axles first?
1722102580356.jpg One of the CV axles literally fell apart once it was tapped out of the hub, so I don't feel too bad about having to remove them. They were due for replacement I guess.. This morning I am going to clean up the shop and the engine bay, and put the transaxle back in the bay (which wi...

The engine is out. I had to remove the axles. There was no way it was going to come otherwise.

I lost 3.6 lbs. in that time.
I think I need to hydrate.
