Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

I've tried that. One time I could feel the pawl try to engage, but just wasn't in enough. Audible clicking and could feel it in the gear shifter.

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

Thanks for the reply. I agree with everything you said, which is why it's so frustrating. I'm going to try and rotate it into low with the pnp off and gently press down on the post while rotating it back into park to see if I can wiggle it enough to engage correctly. I don't really see how I could h...

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

I can in terms of moving it all the way over. Lines up with pnp and gear selector anyway. It has to be just not engaging somehow. It seems like it needs to travel further in unless all the way takes more force than I'm applying. Is it possible to jam the rod in by hand to try and engage the pawl? I ...

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

I thought I had it, but it's still rolling in park. I was able to install the rod from the top and it seemed to"lock" right in. Do you know if there's a specific orientation that it must go in at? Meaning, is it okay to just get the selector back on the spring and rotate all the way clockw...

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

I just want to say thank you. Took her apart and got it back together in record time. I'm laughing at myself about that picture. I didn't remember there being a spring on the rod and didn't even realize that was it lol. Really appreciate the pictures and insight. I would have been goofing around wit...

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

Thanks fellas! I'll have to take her apart again. Not sure how I put it in there.....argh. One more thing, the long rod is going into a blind hole. How does it connect inside? Does it just push against something? The rod came out and wondering if I just got lucky getting it back in.

2001 Volvo V70 2.4t car rolling in park after valve body change

Hi folks. Just did a valve body replacement and all went well. Shifting like a dream. New problem arose though. Gear shifter very stiff and car is rolling in park. No grinding or anything. I only let it roll a foot if that. Any ideas? The internal linkage came out when putting the valve body in, had...

Re: 2001 v70 2.4t part identification

Having a hell of a time finding a direct replacement. They don’t seem to sell a direct part. Any idea if any others will work? There are several that appear to be the same, but 16t, ect. Don’t know much about turbos and not looking to tune or anything. Just looking for one that will bolt on and work...
