Re: 1994 850 Wagon Won't Start

Judging by the age of the vehicle, the no start condition, and codes, it sounds like you need a camshaft position sensor. In my opinion, even if for some reason replacement of the sensor didn't solve this problem, you would at least be addressing an issue that is almost certain to get you at some po...

Re: Mysterious Timing Belt Parts '98 V70 GLT

Yes I realize that now. Thanks.

I was unaware that the change in tensioner occurred midway through the '98 model year. A word to the wise for those ordering from eeuroparts.com, they are not very clear in their parts listings about this!

Mysterious Timing Belt Parts '98 V70 GLT

Can somebody help me identify these parts? What the hell kind of tensioner is that? It appears that the hydraulic tensioner is missing and that the pulley is some strange part. I have all new parts ready to go. Should I just cut the belt and put in the new parts? I don't know who the guy is who work...

Re: Broken Timing Belt Cover, A Thank You

Ambitious indeed. That is a good idea, but I suppose I have to admit a certain lack of adventure in this job. I need this car to drive to work Monday at 7 AM. A new cover is under $20 new, and I could possibly get a used one sometime this week from my mechanic for less. I think I would feel better w...

Broken Timing Belt Cover, A Thank You

1998 V70 GLT, black on charcoal, 135k Well, I finally started to delve into my timing belt today (which took a lot of muster fueled by French Roast coffee), only to discover that some "mechanic" had been in there before me. Evidence of his butchering was plentiful. I first noticed that the...

Ryan, Owning an older Volvo that isn't a 240 will not be cheap by any means in my opinion. They are only reasonable if you do the work yourself, but still not "cheap". Perhaps you need to define to yourself what cheap is. For me and this 850 turbo I have now, I'm trying to keep it under $2...

Is this car a turbo? If it is, it could be one the lines to the turbo leaking.

Did you check for codes? I'm assuming the cam sensor replacement was a reaction to a code, but were there any others? Did the car die before or after the cam sensor replacement?
