I got it sorted folks.
The first DiCE was a counterfeit. I then ordered a Mongoose JLR2534 cable and - after much fiddling and loading drivers onto the virtual machine - success !

Hey guys - my daughters 2005 2.4i v50 has done 256k km and its has hard downshift and flaring shifts when it get hot. I've ordered the 3 Rostra linear solenoids and I will install them this week.
