Re: Can I Install a Used ETM?
I really don't have an extra $650 to put out for a Xemodex ETM right now for my wife's 2000 S*), I found a 6 month old (used) OEM type online, can I put that in to get me by or will I have to have my computer programmed for it to wor? If I need the car programmed, any idea how much that may cost? I...

Re: timing belt
FYI: I had the timing belt changed on our '99 S70 at the local dealership (about 3 years ago) ..the belt rides about like yours (1/8th inch in from the engine-side edge). Haven't had any problems with it. BTW: According to the dealer mechanics, the original Volvo water pump is apparently built like ...

Re: Engine Mount Discussion
Hey All, What indications have you had that caused you to suspect bad engine/transmission mounts? What is the typical replacement mileage on these parts? How to do you check and what do you look for when assessing the mounts? Our '99 S70 (110K) has gotten a bit more "buzzier" recently .......

Re: My recent ETM failure, part II ...
Well as it turned out, the out-of-the-box-brand-new factory throttle body was defective. I spoke with the service writer who handled the car initially and based on the codes it was throwing they determined it was a bogus unit. This of course required high level confrences with the district service s...

My recent ETM failure, part II ...
Car: '99 S70; 2.4L non-turbo w/96K auto trans. Had my ETM replaced under the Volvo extended warranty. Went to pick up car today. After starting the car the ETS light remained on (this light *never* came on when the original ETM was going through its death throes). Car goes back into the shop for a d...

Re: Should I replace everything on a Timing Belt job?
Just had this done at 96K on our '99 S70. The shop replaced the belt, tensioner and a pulley. I asked about the water pump and the service advisor said Volvo water pumps generally last about 200K; they "inspect" the pump for leaks. Be aware that the 2.4L engine (non-turbo) is an interferen...

Re: My recent ETM failure....
I have a 99 S70GLT with 98K miles on it, purchased 5/26/99, so I am 3 days from expiration of the warrantee period. I have not had problems with the ETM yet. I have heard that the dealership makes you go through a protocol of replacing other items before they okay the ETM replacement. So I was wond...

Re: OBD codes P1029 and P1031.....
Glad you made it under the wire! Is the car running good now? I still wonder what made the #5 cylinder get so hot it destroyed the spark plug. I guess we'll never know . . . :?: Very strange ...yes. My theory is the plug rattled to such an extent that the ground electrodes simply broke off ...possi...

My recent ETM failure....
Hi all, I have just gone through having my ETM replaced under the factory extended warranty ....I made the cutoff by *two* days. The car is a 1999 non-turbo S70, 2.4L I-5 with auto tranny. It had about 96K on it when the ETM failure began. I thought I would share my symptoms for anyone else going th...

Re: OBD codes P1029 and P1031.....
The ETM was swapped ...just made it under the ten year limit by *two* days. Had to have my car taken to a "real" Volvo dealer to do the installation (vs the ex-dealer now Subie seller). Apparently the service rep I spoke with was a little misinformed about being able to get Volvo software ...
